Where Do You Buy Your Clothes?

I mostly buy my stuff from Old Navy. They just fit well. Sometimes I'll venture on over to Kohl's if I need something a little nicer. I'm usually just a collared shirt and jeans type of guy though.

Don't know how I didn't see this thread before! :)

I guess I've gradually moved up the clothes food chain over the years, but I still like to feed at all levels since occasionally you can find specific items at excellent QPR on the lower rungs.

Nowadays, most of my suits and odd jackets are made-to-measure or bespoke from Ede & Ravenscroft. However, I still like to shop the designer outlets (and am lucky enough to have a fantastic outlet mall near me) so have a fair few suits & jackets from the likes of Ralph Lauren Purple Label, Ermenegildo Zegna and so on. Odd trousers, often from Ralph Lauren either Purple Label or Polo.

Shirts, most are currently Zegna, though I've recently started getting bespoke from Rayner & Sturges via an intermediary who does the visiting tailor thing, saving me travel costs.

Shoes - Salvatore Ferragamo's Tramezza line, John Lobb Paris & Edward Green make up the bulk of them.

Ties - anywhere really, as long as I like the pattern and the quality of the silk.

Socks - Pantherella, Falke and good old M&S!

I still get my boxer briefs from M&S too! :D

Shoes = K-mart,
Shirts = Sears,
Slacks = Wal-Mart.

I try not to spend to much on my clothes, just don't think it's really worth it. Other than hats or trenches, then I spend for quality. Going to start hitting the 2nd-hand stores for a nice dress/suit vest.

Yay, Holdfast is here! Now, we need pics!

Here I am wearing a fedora, overcoat, blazer and tie, New Year's Eve:

Doesn't this pic make you want to say, "You have to answer for Santino, Carlo!"

"Mike, you got it all wrong!" :D

(not really, but I couldn't resist finishing the quote!)

OK a couple of pics, showing that you don't necessarily need to spend a lot of money to find nice things (although it's a lot more fun to do it that way). But two fairly economical looks from last week:

First photo (with estimated percentage discount I got them for, if applicable):

feb19001re6.jpg

Next jacket 50%+
Zegna shirt 30%
Brioni pocket square 80%
Ralph Lauren Polo bow tie 85%
Zara sweatervest

Second photo (again with % discount):

feb17001nf4.jpg

Ralph Lauren Purple Label jacket 90%
Sulka shirt 90%
Old School tie
Zara cardigan 20%

Those looks won't be to everyone's taste, but the point I'm making is that even if you like to get nice items, you can still find them for sale (new, with tags) at big discounts if you search around a little. And that even typical High Street mid/low-end shops sometimes have real bargains if you keep your eyes open.

Somewhat more pricey outfit from last week:

Ede & Ravenscroft jacket
Sulka shirt 90%
Topman waistcoat
Ede & Ravenscroft pocket square
Liberty tie

I find Reitman's is useful for (women's) 'office clothes' at good prices, though I also sometimes shop at Laura Petites because fitting properly is 80% of how a given article of clothing looks on a given person.

I've found some lovely cashmere sweaters at Winners, too.

I don't like shops, I have no patience for shopping so I get bored and tetchy really quickly. I like to do my shopping from the comfort of my own home - usually the shopping process is spread over several days!

Look number two is my fave. :techman: -- RR

I love Coldwater Creek, too, but only in the Outlet and only with % off (unless MIL is buying :) ).

Basically, I shop the sales and clearance racks first, especially for the kids (who outgrow thing before they wear them out) and me (since I don't have to impress anyone but myself with my wardrobe, and I'm fairly easy to please). So, I'll shop most of the usual stores already listed -- Old Navy, Kohl's, JCP, Target, Land's End (outlet), even Macy's if the sale is a good one.

I could never buy clothes online. It's rare enough for me to find clothes that fit properly in the store. I couldn't buy them online without trying them on first.

Once you find something that fits the way you want it to, no big deal.

I know what base size suit I need. It comes to my house (no shipping cost) and I take it into the local shop to get it altered. In my mind, same as buying in the store.

Yep. I buy many of my clothes online from either Kohls or Old Navy.
My brother bought 10 of these:

For $6 a piece on clearance. He's always helping me out as he's stylishly inclined and I have trouble with anything more than the very basic.

When I'm not on Saville Row visiting my bespoke tailor, or having my suits shipped in from Kowloon Hong Kong from ansfashions, I frequent such lofty establishments as the GoodWill and the Salvation Army for my high fashion outfits.:techman:

I buy everything at the thrift store, bitches! Bwahahahahaha!

Recently, I found an awesome Eagles concert tee and a beautiful embroidered puff skirt from a thrift store called Out of the Closet. I have found wonderful clothes from them and people often ask how I can afford designer labels. That's funny because I never check the labels, except to know the size.

I shop everywhere. From Macy's to Men's Warehouse to Target to Goodwill to Vintage Clothing stores. I look for value, fit, and style. Hell, the last two pairs of pants I got were $8 each at a vintage clothing store and I love them. I also have a custom taylor made suit from a boutique (that I need to get tailored since it is too loose on me now).

This thread inspired me to go to Old Navy the other day.

I'll never go back. It's like rows of clothes that all look exactly the same, just different colors.

Oxfam.

NOT

I pop into charity shops every couple of months to see what they have on offer. I've found quite a few leather jackets and grabbed a tremendous pair of boots to go with my kilt... though it's mostly costume wear and nothing more but can get a few really good finds in there.

I'm not really too picky when it comes to most things. T-shirts I'll typically buy cheap from Primark, though thats mainly because with my frame they fit me better than other places which end up being too baggy or too tight for my liking. Plus when needed I can buy cheap blank hoodies etc for custom prints.

I mostly wear suits which I'll pick up from various high street stores (River Island was the source of my favorite which looks like Dae-sue's in Oldboy) though my latest from was a made to order place online with decent pricing. Anything else I'll just pick up wherever I see something I like or sent to me from my father in Florida.

I have an odd habbit of buying leather jackets on eBay - I prefer the second hand worn-in look compared to brand new leather which looks too 'clean' for me.

I love shopping at thrift stores, but the thrift stores around here are ridiculous. The other day I was browsing and I saw a nice shirt that fit me (2x. I like extra room). Price? $5. Price if I bought it new in a store? $8. Sure that's $3, but it's just not right.

There's an amazing Men's store called Harry Rosen in Canada.

I end up buying all my stuff from there. But I did get access to the Hugo Boss Warehouse and had a great time buying all that stuff discounted :D

That's pretty dumb. Thrift store shirts should cost $2 max.

The thrift stores around here are kind of expensive, too, so I've stopped trying. I'd rather just get new clothes.
