Where are all the new pictures?

The recent Trektoday update links to three articles that talk about prop designs, concept art for the shuttlebay, the Romulan bridge, all now out in the open.

Where the heck are the pictures? The german article captions them, but doesn't SHOW them!

That stuff won't be allowed to leave the presentations, either in physical or digital form. Taking pictures of the concept art would be the same as bootlegging the clips.

Not to put too fine a point on it: that sucks...why should the press get to see it and not us?

It does beg the question, though. Why show this stuff to the press, if they're not supposed to pass it on to the general public? Isn't that what they're for?

They need to go back to the old Paramount system...by now we should have had at LEAST 2-3 Starlog articles, many many pics and drawings, and lots more interviews to give us an advance look at the picture...

Not if Paramount (or whichever studio) stipulates otherwise. I'm quite sure that we will see it, but we don't get to see it yet. First, we get to read about it and picture it as filtered through the journalists' perspective. There is most certainly a timetable, and I have to assume that we're right on schedule.

The more they hold back, the more convinced I become they're trying to sell us a "pig in a poke".

I actually hope they DON'T release too much. I would be happy if they don't show stuff like the props until may 7th (the South African release date). It spoils it to see everything so soon.

That's interesting; the more they hold back, the more convinced I become they're trying to sell us a costly coffee-table book featuring Previously Unseen Material... ;)

Not so much. What they are doing is well played marketing and if what you think were true we wouldn't have gotten what we already have which does provide us a good idea of this film. True they haven't spilled the whole plot, but then why should they?

Even George Lucas couldn't keep all the footage, spoilers and merchandise under legal wraps for long during the SW prequel era(1999-2005). There were Lucasfilm LAWYERS threatening to sue major retail chains for releasing toys and collectibles too early(a few weeks prior to the movie release or so)for massive amounts, yet glimpses of cool(or not so much:lol:)characters, weapons and ships always leaked out along with bootlegged Web footage from the films long before the movies were officially released.

Cheap publicity. Let the press see and describe clips and artwork. Fans all a twitter. It worked.

Among other piles of merchandising I am sure.
