When is the next announcement of new novels?

In the past (under Marco and Margaret's management) the new novels usually very announced at the Shore Leave convention in July (or shortly before or after that convention), during Jaime Costas reign the authors made the announcements individually, no clue how it will be handled by the current editor.

All we know at this point about the schedule beyond January 2012 is that David Mack is contracted for four more novels (one Vanguard and a trilogy) and David R. George III for two novels.

Never Mind. Defcon beat me to it, and said it much better than I did.

Actually last year there was a complete schedule of the rest of 2010's book and 2011 novels in the May or June issue of the Star Trek magazine. And so far, it's been dead on as far as what's coming out and when.

Yeah, but IIRC quite a few of the novels where announced by the authors before STM had the schedule.

Greg just hinted at having an announcement soon, so if S&S suddenly decide to release the 4 JJverse novels to tie in with the next movie, that'd be the year pretty much sewn up, with only one slot left...

This has nothing to do with those nuTrek books. This would be a whole new project, based on TOS, not the new movies.

Sorry. Didn't mean to raise people's hopes regarding those earlier books.

Didn't mean that it was - just saying that if they came out, that's another block of 4 slots spoken for, added to the 6 between the two Davids and the one you mentioned.

Based entirely on the supposition that they'll show up someday cos they got paid for, and that by the time the next movie comes out, they'll probably not need to worry about contradictions...

Ah, I misunderstood. Still, I wanted to avoid any confusion on that front.

(*crosses fingers and toes*)

@Greg Cox...I'm excited Greg. You writing a Kirk novel is making me a giddy fan boy.

Thanks!

Believe it or not, I actually started work on this outline a few years ago, but got sidetracked by other things.

I'll say more once I finally see a contract! (Don't want to jinx it!)
