Ok, seriously..... NOT CHRISTIAN. Read the op before making blank statements like that. I've said this a couple times in here, but apparently you're to busy trying to trash on people who are christian to pay attention. I've also said the my issue is not with the phrase itself. The phrase was simply brought up because now adays, not in the 1980's, people are being told that they aren't aloud to say merry christmas, happy hannakuh, or anything else BUT happy holidays.

Doesn't change the fact that this whole 'war on Christmas' came about because of some whiney christians and Bill O'Reilly.

You may not consider yourself Christian, but you are certainly carrying the torch for them.

Get over it. Happy Holidays has been around since long before I was born. It isn't hurting anyone. And, anyone complaining about it, just look foolish.

So how is the fact that I'm sitting here saying that it's not just about christmas, It's about the policy of saying you aren't ALLOWED to say something, make me look foolish? Last time I checked the constitution gave me the right to say anything I chose to say, and maybe since I was in the military, and I take that a little more seriously, then I don't like the idea of my words being restricted.

Yeah, sure, have to common sense and courtesy to know what to say around certain people, but don't make it against the rules to say it.
 
The owners of a business have every right to restrict what an employee can and cannot say within the establishment. If the employee doesn't like it, they have every right to quit.
 
Most companies have "scripts" of some sort for their employees who interact with customers; those employees are the face of the company and it's part of their job to present a consistent image.

The Constitution does not guarantee that you are free from the consequences of speech from other people, only the government. If you call someone an offensive name you do not have the right to restrict their response to such a statement just as a business does not have to hire someone who won't do what they were hired to do.

Honestly, this is the new political correctness, this assumption that there are no consequences to inflammatory speech when there are, in fact, deep social and political repercussions attached to offensive statements -- as there should be.

When did this become about offensive names? and sure, you should be aware that what you say has consequences, but that doesnt mean someone should pay the consequences if they respond to merry Christmas with merry Christmas, or happy Hanukkah with happy Hanukkah.

I just dont see it as being worse then "second hand car exhaust" which puts out quite a bit more harmful chemicals then my one little smoke.
 
And yet, it seems people who are around cigarette smoke a lot end up with more lung issues than drivers. So, apparently it is worse.

Remind me not to stick my face in front of someone's tailpipe.

Whether or not second-hand smoke causes cancer, it still bugs the shit out of me, and I'm glad it has been forcibly moved outside.
