One of my friends has bought all her Christmas presents while I haven't even started.

So a poll to see when folks in here Christmas shop. Pick the one that is nearest for you.

    Getting there -but slowly.
Depending on the complexity of the gifts I make of course; late December usually is when I get it all together.

Sometimes I buy an early gift or two, but usually it's all crammed into the week before Christmas. Since I do my "shopping" in advance, I just try and hit the stores as they open when it comes time to do the actual buying. Swoop in, grab the goods, hit the checkout and out the door within 30 minutes usually. Next day, a different store or maybe two if they're next to each other.

    I'm completely finished.
I started in mid October, and finished two weeks ago.
I must give thanks to Amazon.com, for making my life much easier.

I bought my first presents today, which is early for me. I'll probably finish my shopping on Christmas eve. :)

I have no money this year since I have been out of work for a long time. I usually keep an eye out for presents all year.
This year I'll probably wait until the last minute since I'll have to use my giftcards from Best Buy and Overstock.com for presents for my mother, father and sister. Hopefully these stores will have better deals closer to Christmas.

    Hey, don't knock fake trees.

We have to have a fake tree in our home as one of my sons is very allergic to pine trees.

Week before Christmas. Usually a few days before Christmas.

It feels more festive that way. Barging your way through crowds, fighting over the last item on the shelf, listening to the Christmas Carollers while getting drunk on free mulled wine and generally making as much of a celebratory nuisance of myself in shops as possible while spending more than is good for me...

As I said - festive.

The passing of Halloween is usually my cue to start Christmas shopping. Sometimes I get it done before the end of November, but sometimes I have a really hard time thinking of what to get certain people, so I spend a couple of months fretting over it and then end up getting something mediocre the week before. Some people are extremely hard to shop for.

Living in a state which is the number one producer and exporter of live/real trees I'm obligated to lobby for the Douglas Fir, Noble Fir, Blue Spruce and Scotch Pine. It's a huge agricultural industry here and employs a lot of people.

I make exceptions for medical reasons though. :)

I don't buy Christmas presents. Christmas for me is time with loved ones. They're all adults, they don't need gifts. They can buy their own things if they need them. Gifts are what ruin the holidays.

This will obviously change when I have kids, but at that points, gifts for the kids and the kids only. However, I'm not going to go crazy like some parents and buy them the whole goddamn toy store.
