When did "Megaman" and "Megaman X" jump the shark?

For X, probably with X6. X7 was even more of a trainwreck (somehow), and X8 managed to turn around, but it was too little too late.

The Zero and ZX games were pretty good though and I like that despite all the problems I have with ZXA, the games all went forward and introduced something new and interesting.

MM9 and MM10 just irritate me, though. Yes, let's just throw out every bit of innovation that's been added to the franchise in the last 20 years. For a side project I wouldn't have minded them so much, but making NES romhacks your only new games is horribly disappointing. As far as I'm concerned, MM was dead long before the cancellation of MMU and Legends 3.

Mega Man X4 was the last Mega ManX game that I really enjoyed. In fact it's probably my favorite from the X series. X5 was too tedious, especially with that little thing that kept telling you how to clear each level.

As for the original series, I loved MM9, but it was just too difficult for me. I mean the MM games have always been hard but this one went a bit far, especially in the Splash Woman level.
