When did Discovery JUMP the Shark?

By what metric? Again this is your opinion not supported by actual an metric, which show the series is not only popular but a critical success. Try again.

Back up and don't get me wrong. I really like DSC. Like, I really like it.

But yes, due to production troubles it did stumble and took time to find its feet. For me, that didn't happen until Season 3, after which I think it's a tremendous show.

You can't deny though that the show was not universally embraced by the fandom when it launched, it still isn't.

I'll stand shoulder to shoulder with you and defend the show unto the death. Please, don't come at me with the aggressive 'try again'. You're better than that. And why 'again'? I don't bash DSC regularly.

Of course it's his opinion. This is not an objective science but looking at it through our own lenses. I like Discovery very much, but I never found it popular.
Without boring anyone it's pretty easy to find actual metrics online. Discovery is not only popular, it has been one of the most popular series in the world.

The opinions were seeing are based on bias, and while my opinions differ they also are with knowledge of reality.

But they do continue to hope against hope and start troll threads so, hey I don't mind making them look ignorant.

What reality? That someone didn't like Discovery? Of course opinions on a bias. This is ridiculous and presumptuous.

Metrics only tell one part of the story.

Unproductive.

Exactly.

Yes, there are fans who would prefer everything was Axanar or ST Continues but they don't run P+.

The reality is the metrics do in fact support Discovery's popularity so not acknowledging it is either ignorance or willful trolling. I've seen both in this thread already.

S1:E1. Or maybe more accurately S1:E2.

To answer it for real and not just Discovery hating... I don't think we can say DSC "jumped the shark". The trope doesn't quite fit Discovery. The term suggests that it's the moment when a show has essentially exhausted its premise and has changed, for the worse. If anything, DSC has done the opposite of jumping the shark... in my opinion, the show improved significantly when it altered it's premise a bit in S3.

No. As badly as Paramount+ is floundering, they wouldn’t have thrown away one of the most popular shows in the world. It just doesn’t work that way.
The most successful component of Paramount is actually P+. Go look at the earnings reports. That's not what is losing Paramount money.

I'll help you out. Check the pdf.

Not from Richard. He is neither and accusing him of such is entirely disrespectful.

Oh well. I think they've put me on ignore now anyway, or they are just ignoring me.

Whatever.

Talk about 'ignorant' behaviour, hey?
Your opinion can be whatever you like pro or con, but you drew conclusions which are wrong. I didn't specfically call you a troll so don't assume that. I invited you to back up your claims.

I can certainly post a bunch of boring stats, but you guys can internet pretty well right?

But there be trolls here.

Jumping the Shark is a personal opinion.

Everyone forgets that Happy Days, for whom Jump the Shark is named, lasted another six seasons on ABC. Including two spin-offs.

The Simpsons supposedly did it years back and it's still going strong.
