What's your resting heart rate?

Yep, you're old pal Mitty here.

Tonight we had a housewarming at a friends house. Anyway somehow we got to talking about heart rates and everyone did resting heart rate tests. My resting heart rate while just sitting there was 60 BPM (yay!!! All that damn Cardio I've been doing at the gym paid off!) though most people there were about 80, one guy was 100 (not good!). What's yours?

To test, simply sit still for a while and then put index and middle finger of one hand up under the chin. i only counted for 30 seconds and multiplied by 2 but it was fairly obvious I was about 1 beat per second, give or take.

58 after just going for a long walk. At total rest, 45-50. At my highest I think it was about 80.

My blood pressure floats near the pre-hypertension levels (around 120/80) but down from years ago.

I averaged out at 66 BPM after checking four times while sitting on my lazy ass at the computer.

I did it twice for 60 seconds, first time it was 74bpm, second time it was 68bpm. I have quite low blood pressure.

Mine hovers around 55-60bpm generally. BP is pretty good too.

Before I lost loads of weight some years ago, my resting heart rate was about 80 and the BP was at least 10-20mmHg higher. The effect of the weight loss on the stress on my cardiovascular system was impressive. Now, if I actually did any exercise, it would be much better still.

15 seconds gave me a 21 count so 84.

My BP is goofy...one side or the other is up but, knock wood, never both at once.

Hopefully it may settle now that school's out for the term.

My BP is nearly always high, even on medication. I've been trying to walk more, and take as much light exercise as I can and I think because of that it seems to be closer to normal lately than in the past, but even though they started treating my pulmonary hypertension and my exercise tollerance has increased a lot any real exercise makes me feel terrible.

While i just finished my Dinner so i have been sitting for some time, after 30 seconds i counted 47 BPM so double that and i got 94.

Second time gave me 45 which doubes makes 90.

^ You counted 47 beats in 30 seconds? Or that's the number you got when you doubled the 30 second figure?

Seems low to compared to what I've been given to understand is the average. Sounds like an athlete level fitness pulse!

Just did mine for a full minute twice, and came out with 69 both times. I've heard women might have slightly higher beats per minute. Not sure why though...? Seems to be an improvement from when I last did this at school in class as a teenager, and I had 74 bpm then.

I've just checked it, 87bpm. I've seen it as high as 120 though.

That's really not good.

I literally just woke up about 10 minutes ago and haven't done anything yet today, and my heart rate was 58.
I have a heart and lung condition, so not all that unexpected though.

Fair enough, as long as you're aware of it.

I didn't want to be like Jayson just now realizing that fast food was bad for you. ;)

 Nah, it's a congenital defect, so I've been aware of it all my life, but thanks for the heads up anyway.

Looks like it's around 72 right now, but that's probably not resting. I'm extremely anxious at the moment.

Usually around 60 bpm for me. Just checked my BP to be about 135/82; would like to get that systolic down. Maybe time to cut back on the salt a bit.
