what's your local weather?

Currently snow, later sleet and possibly a full-on changeover to rain. Then back to snow. Then a break, and more snow. That's the next 3 days. On day 4... my baby shower, so the weather better calm the hell down.

Rhubarb, I hear you on the migraines. If we get a sudden warming, I'll probably be crippled.

Fifteen inches of snow on the ground with the possibility of two to four more falling during the course of the day. The city's largely shut down. 25 F and cloudy with more snowfall expected between now and sundown.

In short: wintry and gorgeous-looking, but a mess.

eight and a half inches of snow in the lower end of Virginia. i'm surprised the power hasn't went out yet.

A little less windy tonight than last night, not sure how high the winds got up to where I am but gusts were recorded at 108mph during last nights storm.

The snow finally stopped after dumping close to 20 inches around here. The temps are now up around 40 F so some mild melting is starting to take place, but not much.

Mother nature is so unfair. You folks get a blizzard that while crippling immediately starts melting. Conversely we can't get rid of the snow that fell back in December :(

To make matters worse...every time the weather starts climbing a bit, it starts snowing :scream:

That's Virginia weather for ya. Below freezing and pouring sheets of snow one hour, 40 - 50 degrees the next. I learned to stop trying to predict our weather long ago.

What's funny is that next week, when the temps finally get into the 40s for a couple days, it's supposed to rain. Between the rain and melting snow, we're going to end up with flooding.

Flood-like also.

Aronofsky should get that Noah movie out and surf the zeitgeist.

We had quite a bit of rain overnight. It seems to have melted just about everything that was new yesterday, but the ice-coated snow that was under that is still around. When I woke up, it was light flurries, and now it's getting thicker again. Still haven't made the decision if we're going in to work today or not (me and my sister who carpools with me). Local schools have 1.5-2 hour delays, but of course my school doesn't.

The oddest thing was last night, around 9:30, a very bright, extended flash of lightning (maybe two seconds), and an accompanying thunder right on its heels that lasted, I swear, a full minute. I waited for a follow-up, but that was apparently all the storm wanted to muster. Pretty epic on its own.

Pretty significant melt yesterday, but still about 1/2 inch of solid ice/sleet on my back deck last night. It's really weird to step out on a layer of white and barely have it give beneath you! Delaying going in to work to give the ice on my driveway the chance to finish melting, since I have about a 30 degree slope to back down into traffic. ;)

Almost 50 and bright sun and the piles of snow are starting to melt off in earnest. It'll be a little while before we see most of the pavement again, but this is a nice beginning. The temps and sunshine feel pretty good.

Oddly snowy and icy. Man I can just tell by the amount of saturated soil in my back yard I am going to have to mow my lawn every week come hot weather. :(
