What's your comfortable dream home?

And by the title of the thread I am excluding "if I won $500 million in the Lotto" no limits type of home. Just your idea of what a comfortable home would be.

For me, I have always wanted a Mid-Century modern type split level home. Three bedrooms with en-suite master, family room with a fireplace, maybe a small walkout basement to house all my geek stuff/computers. In a nice suburb somewhere with a view of the mountains.

I'd love a nice little cottage out on a clifftop facing the ocean, far away from civilisation

But really what matters is who lives with you in the home.

This

3 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, Living Room, Dining Room, Eat-in Kitchen, TV Room.

My dream is to live in the French Quarter. I'll probably be able to afford a nice little apartment someday, but my own house with a courtyard and parking would be the most I could ever want.

Small is okay, just somewhat bigger than I have (3bed.2bath) but I want room for a slightly bigger kitchen and a music/library type room. It would be a place to curl up and read or listen to music or both. A girl can dream. ;)

I'd like a two to three bedroom town house that is walking/biking distance from both the lake and a small old-fashioned main street/ town square.

Working on it.

A decently sized downtown condo, with a balcony and a nice view of the city.

I am satisfied with my current home. The only thing I really need to do is remodel the upstairs (which still looks like an old 1950's home, which this house basically was when I moved in) and get rid of the remaining trees in the backyard. But otherwise, it's solid.

Something small and cozy. Possibly light blue. Fireplace and comfy chair. Wood paneling. Room for all my books. Solar panels on the roof, or a wind turbine, or something... Small yard for maybe planting a small vegetable garden. A lemon tree in the middle of the front yard. Located in California somewhere along Highway 49 in the Sierra foothills.

A log Cabin type I saw on a real estate web site once. It had 3 beds 2 bath, 2 car garage and was on a lake near Lake Tahoe, but not on Tahoe. I want to move to Northern California one day. So that's what I want, it was like 400,000 though which too expensive. Something like that in the mountains on or near a lake.

I'd like a house in some suburb with a garden big enough to have some flowers and plant vegetables and also some space to have a nice big table and chairs to enjoy dinner.

A nice 3/4 bedroom house in country but not too far away from city so can have decent internet speed.

I'd be pretty happy with my current place, but ideally it would be 50% bigger. I love the architecture, the setting, and the location. It's just a bit smaller than ideal.

Having said that, I'd prefer it if my next move is one of my last, so I won't go for that minor upgrade, which I could have done already if I really wanted it.

Instead, I'm keeping my eye on a different part of town. The properties there as pretty as where I currently am, if not more so, but are also more expensive, rarely come onto the market and most those that do are too small for me.

But the location is also better, so I'm prepared to wait for exactly the right size one to become available at the right time, and then I'll go for it. I suspect it'll take 5-10 years or so for all those factors to come right, but with a bit of luck, it'll be sooner.
