We should really make a FAQ. I think this is the fourth thread on this topic. 
Simply put, some people like the new My Little Pony show "Friendship Is Magic" which is quite different in tone from the previous ones. It has managed to get quite a following of adult nerds.

These come up every once in a while. They usually get closed, so I'll make it brief:
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is a cartoon that plays on the HUB (Hasbro's cable channel devoted to their properties) every Saturday at 10 AM (EST). There are fans of the show called "Bronies", who range from 15 to 50 (and beyond) that find the show fun, engaging, and quality television.
The show's creator, Lauren Faust, stated that she was thrilled but wholly surprised that the show was enjoyed by such a demographic, and embraced the fan culture, stating that she made the show for children and their parents, and considered it reasonable that adults without kids would still find it enjoyable, which we have.
Some people use the MLP:FiM property as a meme, but most of us truly enjoy the show.

What's My Little Pony? 
Apologies, Had no Idea this was so "rabid". However, seeing as one of the ponies is named "twilight sparkle" I MUST hate this show on principal alone. Interesting that something like this has caught on though...
Nope, you choose to, which is your problem, not ours.
Twilight Sparkle is pretty awesome. She's the bookish, nerd type with social anxiety issues and thus a charcter most of us here can somewhat identify with. Her name hasn't anything to do with the vampire book/movie series.

Twilight Sparkle? Why? She's a sweet, nerdy, bookish pony who likes everyone and believes that all ponies can be redeemed. She's very methodical, she's definitely OCD, believes in the power of friendship, and that every problem can be solved and something learned from it. I adore Twilight Sparkle, though I'm a huge Rainbow Dash fan.
If you're concerned about connections to the movie "Twilight" and the effect of sparkling, well, in all fairness, she was here first.
Don't hate, dude. The show spreads a good message.
