That sounds like the original comics from 1939. Back then, Superman couldn't fly, he could only "leap and 8th of a mile" and when he was drawn "leaping" it would appear as if he was "running".I can’t recall which issue specifically, it was just too long ago, but I’m pretty sure it was Superman. He was my favorite character and this was probably 4-5 years before the Stan Lee era starred at Marvel. I remember that often, when Superman was shown flying, he’d sometimes be upright and appearing to be “running” through the sky, as opposed to being in the prone position.
I don't remember how long that lasted, but you might want to investigate it. If you still have that, you could be sitting on some serious money.
