What's the next Lost?
The should do a show about a group of U.S. soldiers returning from duty in Afghanistan or Iraq. After coming home, they start to notice that their family and friends act in an odd manner. Trying to find out what's going they're stumbling across a conspiracy, and come to the conclusion that their loves ones were somehow brainwashed or replaced by imposters for some reason. In the mid-season finale it's revealed that it's not the relatives who were changed (they're fine), but the soldiers themselves!
After they figure that out, the U.S. military is suddenly after them and tries to kill them (and succeed with at least one of the main cast members). Since they have no place else to go, they return to Afghanistan/Iraq in an attempt to find out what happened to them (or their "originals").
I admit, the basic premise is stolen from the DS9 episode "Whispers". But there's enough meat in it to turn in into a full-blown series, I think. Of course, the final reveal should be different one. I doubt that the Taliban have cloning technology.![]()
Sounds vaguely like a modern day version of The Forever War. It's an intriguing concept.
