What's the best deal on buying SG-1?

I've never really watched Stargate before. I did catch a few episodes here and there when it was on the air and enjoyed them for the most part. Recently, I've decided to look into buying the series on DVD.

What is the best way to go about it? To buy the individual seasons one by one? Or buy the Complete Series Collection?

I've seen that the Complete Series Collection has a lot of negative reviews on Amazon.com, due to the packaging which apparently damages the discs very badly. But, the price is very tempting. :)

Any thoughts?

I've been picking up individual seasons on ebay relatively cheap. While I would love the complete collection for the box the damage you mentioned from the reviews is the only reason I haven't bothered.

Keep an eye on Amazon. I picked up each season for about $10 each +-6months ago. They go on sale relatively often anywhere from $12-$15. When they dropped to $10 one day I jumped on it.

You can keep them in your shopping cart and open it every so often, Amazon will update you on price changes that way.

Amazon do some great deals on box sets, yeah. Band of Brothers is on there for £13 down from £40. Ridiculous.

Yeah, I definitely got good deals getting them used from Amazon, some as low as 12 or 13 dollars, and a couple new when a good sale came along. The only problem now is that the show's been released a few different times, so you might ahve to be careful which one you get if you care about them all looking the same on the shelf. It's not a huge thing, since the discs themselves are the same but I know some people want all the boxes to be consistent like that.

^ People like that are quite a picky bunch, aren't we? ;)

Indeed. I won't debate that it looks better on the shelf, and I confess to giving in to the urge on occasion (I do happen to have all of SG-1 in consistent packaging). But oftentimes, my wallet wins out over things lining up and I'll go with what's cheaper.
