what's next after Resistance?

I just finished Resistance and was wondering what book comes next. The inner back cover implies TNG: Before Dishonor, which will be released in Nov. Or is it Q&A which is out now?

Thanks.
Rich

Presumably because Q&A is a separate, standalone story while Before Dishonor is more of a sequel to Resistance, continuing the Borg narrative.

I thought after Resistance was 'is futile'. Must have things out of order...:bolian: Anyway looking forward to the next few books, I've liked the last couple and am excited for Destany (I think that's the name) next year.

^ Close, so close... ;)

Before the Star Trek Destiny trilogy arrives, there will be Christopher L. Bennett's TNG novel Greater Than the Sum, which will take place between Peter David's novel Before Dishonor and my trilogy.

When you work on a trilogy that's coming in out in rapid succession like Destiny, at what point do you treat the story as three pieces instead of one? Is it after the outline, after the first draft, after a few rounds of editing, or some other point in the process?

^ Hard to say.

Even when I wrote the outline, I was cognizant of where the breaks would be between the books; however, for the sake of clarity during the evaluation process with my editors and the licensor, the entire trilogy outline had to be completed before we could discuss it.

Consequently, it had to be a complete single work unto itself as a trilogy, and each book needed to have its own self-contained arc, as well. In that respect, I had to see it as one work and as three works at the same time.

Then factor in that it's a crossover involving multiple crews and time periods, and touching upon almost every established branch of the Star Trek family tree, and one can see that it's easily the largest and most complex project I've undertaken to date. And in about 15 months, I'll get to find out whether it works or not.

No pressure, though, of course.

:)

Damnable tease. I'd love to get me hands on some flowcharts...

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

No such luck. Once these are done, I'll need to start on whatever I get lined up to follow them. Time not spent writing is time spent losing money.

I know you can't say much but I was just wondering, will the different series be involved in all three books or will there be seperate stories for each series that is used?

The various storylines will all be integrated and interwoven in and through all three books.

This will not be like past crossovers in which each series or crew was segregated into its own book; the whole point is to unify all the stories, not merely run them in parallel.

There...I've told you everything --- and I've told you nothing.

Sounds like David will need a long vacation or nap after these are done. :bolian:
I think it's Mack's wife who will deserve a long vacation after Destiny is done.

Say, Mack, given all the hints and teases, which of these alternate titles is most fitting:

a) Big Ass Destiny
b) Bad Ass Destiny
c) Big Bad Ass Destiny?

I think the real question is, after the trilogy, will anyone survive? I'm not saying he's a mass murderer, but ... ;)

Unless the direction of future VOY fiction is oblivion, then someone has to survive. ;)

Well, Chewie got axed in the Star Wars novels (ducks for cover) so anything could happen or nothing could happen. Maybe Janeway gets to be in charge of Starfleet Command and Chakotay gets promoted.

Janeway became Admiral, Tuvok went to live a long and fruitful life aboard Titan, Tuvok is annoying someone else, Chakotay decided to retire and run for Federation President while Tom Paris is writing the next Captain Proton novel and Kim married his HS sweetie. :D
