What's keeping me out of the theatre....

And again, the fact that you FAIL to see the substance everyone else sees is your failure, not the failure of those who enjoyed the film.

And again, no matter how much people attempt to imagine substance into the movie it is simply not there. Sorry, it isn't. The movie fails greatly in that respect.

Seems to me that you are imagining substance into TOS in much the same fashion.

It was a pretty good show with occasional flashes of brilliance and far more common occurrences of formulaic plots and outright drivel.

If anyone if stretching the truth to bolster their own opinion, it's you.

Sometimes I'm amazed why people who are fans have such a low opinion of the franchise. Why like something you hate? Anyway, no one said that Star Trek was brilliant, but it certaintly made a concerted effort to put out an intelligent product whenever possible. Not something we see from the resent films, including the latest.

And yet you keep insisting that the new film isn't intelligent (and by the way, it's spelled recent). If anyone has a low opinion of the franchise, it's you. I think the franchise has done well to go back to Kirk and Spock and hiring Abrams and his team to recreate that. By all accounts (except yours apparently) they have achieved that. You can continue to put words in people's mouths and make unfounded assumptions on the intelligence of the people who liked the new film but it will not change the fact that you still FAIL at presenting any coherent argument whatsoever.

Everytime somebody puts up a decent argument, the gushers flap down from their batfixtures on the ceiling and shit all over him, so that's a GNDN argument. PLENTY of folks have taken exception to the revisionist (and dumbassed) approach of Abrams, and of course they've provided examples (all you have to do is watch the trailer to see plenty), but instead you keep disregarding or misreading the words in peoples' mouths ... when they don't suit your case.

I see no point in taking seriously any opinion of the film from someone who's only seen the trailer, nor do I intend to give credibility to someone who dismisses the fans who like the film as people who just like mindless adventure.

Give me one example where I have otherwise disregarded or misread the words in people's mouths within the parameters I have just described.

I'll wait....

Yeah.. You've got nothing.

I'm not sure what you are talking about; never called anyone stupid. But, if you intentionally ignore what the other poster is saying and resort to silly insults then there is really no point in continuing a conversation with you. You, infact, have provided no argument and made unfounded assumptions.

Are you serious?? This is time I could have better spent punching the elderly. And by the way it's spelled ignore which I will now do with you.

It's been said countless times already, but I fail to see the brilliance of a script that has a Vulcan captain, eject an unconcious, if unruly element, out the side of a ship with a perfectly functional brig, so he can land on a random icy planet, where he will not only meet the older version of that Vulcan, but the soon to be chief engineer as well.

Great writing that.

I think it demonstrates that Spock (and Nero, for that matter) were genre-savvy. Exactly how many times has locking James T. Kirk or Spock in jail actually helped the antagonist? They always just break out and cause chaos. Leaving Kirk on the Enterprise would just give him the opportunity to build support among the crew and raise a proper mutiny. Similarly, Nero keeping Spock on the Narada would've just been giving him an opportunity to escape into the bowels of the ship and foil his plan somehow.

And the planet wasn't quite random. It was the closest mostly-uninhabited rock near Vulcan, making it a prime psychic viewing spot or pit stop. Remember, Kirk and Spock weren't supposed to be killed, just exiled to where they couldn't possibly cause any trouble. Scotty being there is a stretch, admittedly, but the rest is fairly plausible.

ST 09: $278 million worldwide by Monday night. Only STMMP remains now, adjusted for inflation for top grossing ST movies. ST made this number in 17 DAYS! STTMP had multiple releases. Japan and Mexico releases will likely send the $87 million international figure over $110 million.

I would like to thank the "purists" for making this movie such an unqualified critical and financial success!

RAMA

Especially the ones who needed multiple viewings so they could recall all the details of their points of righteous indignation.

I believe if you go back a month or nine, you'll find more than a few such examples in the abrams forum, probably in threads where Cary or I got warned for expressing full paragraphs of thought where it was not appreciated. And more likely than not, you got the mod there to back you up.

But to use your own words with respect to the other poster, I'm guessing the word 'ignore' should figure prominently when folks looking for legit debate come across posts from you.

Just as before, you do a disservice to your username with pomposity and by joining with the acres of gushers in your carpetbombing.

This is about the seven trillionth post along these lines ... what keeps it from being a troll, that the numbers change or that the folks doing the posting are immune from being called on their redundancy?

I suppose I should thank all of trekbbs for making SERENITY such a b.o. failure, if sarcasm is the point of the last sentence.

Yes. You are so right. I've got the mods right in my back pocket. Or maybe it was your condescending attitude toward anyone who disagreed..No, you're right. It surely must have been the mods conspiring with me to get you into trouble. It's really the only reasonable scenario.

Not really. They've been permabanned.

Gushers..carpetbombing..looks like your display of hyperbole is doing it's own healthy share of disservice.

For causing Master & Commander to bomb, too.

Don't forget the cancellation of Firefly.
