What's in your wallet/purse?

- New Hampshire Driver's License
- Rivier College Student ID
- Citizens Bank Green$ense Debit Mastercard (Soon to be Citizens Bank VISA Debit card... They switched over for some reason...)
- JC Penney Employee Discount Card
- Coupon for a free pint of ice cream at a local homemade ice cream shop called Haywards
- Hot Topic Frequent Buyers Card
- Harvard Pilgrim Insurance Card
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR & AED Certification Card
- American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid Certification Card
- Nashua Public Library Card

- a variable amount of cash, currently a little over £70; mainly notes with a few coins. I used to carry more cash around with me (habit I picked up from my dad), but it lasted forever and I figured I didn't need to lug around that amount of cash so now I try to keep the amounts relatively low. I still start to get antsy if it drops below around £20-£30 though which is silly, since I use the cards for almost everything anyway.
- a couple of debit cards & a couple of credit cards (AMEX & MC though I use the AMEX whenever I can because it has better rewards)
- handful of loyalty cards (dry cleaner, tailor, supermarket, cafe, petrol station, etc)
- a few of my business cards
- couple of membership cards for various organisations

Think that's about it. I clear out the junk regularly and try to keep only what I use at least semi-regularly.

Let's see....

  • Driver's License
  • Nevada Driver's License (cancelled) for Pic ID
  • AAA Membership card
  • Department of Public Safety fingerprint card (I'm licensed to substitute teach)
  • Debit Card
  • 2 Credit Cards
  • City of Mesa Library Card
  • Tempe Library Card
  • Mesa Community College Student ID
  • AAA Auto Insurance Card
  • Blood Type card
  • Border's Membership Card
  • Loyalty cards for 3 grocers and one drugstore
  • rain checks from one of said grocers for next trip
  • a couple of business cards
  • $30 or so
  • Medical Insurance card
  • Prescription benefits card
  • Dental Insurance card

-- No cash
-- Miniknife
-- Minipen
-- Creditcard Magnifying Glass
-- 11 in 1 tool

Let's see, should be a short list as I hate fat wallets:

Driver's License
2 AMEX cards - one for personal, one for business
Debit card
health insurance/ prescription card
Usually around $40-50, with a $50 stuck behind my dl (habit from my dad)
One blank check

That's it. If you counted the hotel, rental car, and airline loyalty cards I carry in my briefcase you'd add 12 cards to the total.

In the purse (which is my latest vintage purchase):

- a small makeup bag containing a mirror, comb (neither of which I ever use), a small Swiss army knife, memory stick, and elastic bands;
-instruction manual for my new D-SLR camera;
-credit card holder with way too many cards to list here;
-change purse with $6.65 in change plus one silver dollar
- $20 Canadian
-one lipstick "O" by MAC
- cellphone
- pill box with 6 Tylenols

Wallet here:

DL
Auto insurance card
Medical insurance card
bank card
2 credit cards
Starbucks card
hip replacement card for metal detectors
SS card
Extended warranty card for truck
2 business cards (Waco PD and Auto body shop)
HEB points club card
16 dollars cash American

Credit Card
Cash/Check Card
Drivers License
2 insurance cards (Medical, Auto)
I might have up to $100 in there, but usually just a couple bucks.

That's it. I hate a bulky wallet. I used to carry one of those checkbook wallets, but it was way too big and I don't remember the last time I wrote a check.

Here's exactly everything I have:

In the card slots-
Credit Card
Debit Card
Business Card for a dentist reccomended to me.
Game Card for Dave and Buster's.
Business Card for an old boss.
Best Buy Rewards Zone Card.
Business Card for my primary mechanic.
Business Card for my doctor.
Business Card for my secondary mechanic.
Business Card for my insurance agent.
Some-kind-of "shopper card" for my dealership/mechanic,
Business Card for a pediatrist who took care of an in-grown toenail a year ago.
Casino Card.
My father's old business card.
My voter registraion card.

In the pocket behind the card-area:
A cut-out piece from a McDonald's drink-cup I bought in high-school -some fourteen or so years ago. "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious is what you say when there is nothing else to say according to Mary Poppins in Walt Disney's Marry Poppins."

In the pictures flap:
My Kansas Driver's License
Picture of my niece.
Older picture of my niece.
Picture of my brother and his wife with my niece.
Baby picture of my niece.
Old picture of my (long-since) ex girlfriend.
My high-school prom picture.

In the pocket behind the picture area:
Dental Insurance Card
Medical Insurance Card

In the first bill-pocket:
US$1

In the second bill-pocket:
A Chiefs 2009 game schedule.
Phone number for a co-worker/friend on scrap piece of legal paper.
Instructions for computer system at work on a Post-It.
Second set of instructions for another computer system at work on a scrap piece of legal paper.
Movie ticket stub for Star Trek.
Old business card for myself and a roommate when we had a computer business.

My wallet is also pretty-well worn out and barely able to hold itself together. I need a new one.

  • YMCA membership card
  • Insurance card
  • Meridia Bank member card
  • Virgin Mobile top up card
  • The room keys from the last 2 hotels I stayed at
  • A receipt from cashing my last check
  • A few coupons and misc. receipts folded at the rear(if you consider the way the wallet opens the "front"...basically, behind my money if there were any in there)
  • NYS drivers permit
  • A wallet sized Jr. prom photo from last year
  • This year's student ID, as well as last year's
  • a few business cards.
  • If I had any cash on me, it would be kept in the main section, ordered sequentially from smallest to largest denomination, front to back (again, the front being the part covered by the folds when it's in pocket)
My wallet is of the tri-fold variety, I'd wager a guess of 4"x3", dark brown leather. My older wallet is one of those velcro closed heavy fabric wallets...forget the type of fabric exactly, but I'm sure you know what I mean. Also of the tri-fold variety, with a lake scene etched onto the suede front.

I guess I just don't understand why people tend to carry so many cards in their wallet. If nothing else, it's a recipe for disaster if you lose it or it gets stolen.

I only regularly carry three cards: Driver's license, Check/debit card, and AAA card. No cash - don't use it.

(Sometimes I might carry along my Starbucks card if I have the day off from work and can afford a treat.)

As for credit cards, I only take one with me at a time, and that's only when I know I'll be buying something big (which is rare).

Here's exactly everything I have....

[whole lot of stuff]

My wallet is also pretty-well worn out and barely able to hold itself together.

I'm so shocked. ;)

Try leaving half that stuff out of your next wallet...

Wow, you women really have it. I think I should start carrying a handbag, too. :D

No, no, no, you just don't get it. The girls already carry them, with all the junk one could possibly need to borrow off them, so we don't have to! :p

This seems as good a place to ask this question as any:

I've never got the whole "carry photos of your loved ones in your wallet" thing. What's the deal here? I'm assuming you're not going to forget what they look like, and no-one else is all that interested in seeing them (I promise you this is true, no matter how politely they ooh and ahh over the photos when you insist on showing them to random people). Do you actually look at the photos ever, or do they just languish in the back of the wallet? Never understood this one.

In my purse:

£50 in two twenties and a ten
£4 in coins
6 first class stamps
2 pictures of my husband
2 autograph tickets from a convention - one for Stewart, one for Frakes
Virgin mobile top up card
credit card
debit card
Tesco clubcard
business card for Hotel Sportsman Lake Garda
business card for Gozo Aquasports
one Kuna
one Zloty
one decorative pebble
peace on Earth medalion my friend gave me
paperclip
elastic band
sticking plaster
strip of Rennies

That's about it. Lucky I cleared out my purse a couple of weeks ago or I'd have been here all day!
