What's going to tank at the box office?

I can't see Hulk doing that good. The Hulk just isn't that interesting, he's essentially a modern GREEN Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde wearing purple pants.

Speed Racer I'm not sure of. It looks like B&R to the camp power of 10, and I'm really not sure who the audience is supposed to be. Will Anime fans really like something that silly looking in live action?

I think TIH will do better than Woo's Hulk if it's got a faster pace and a bit more action.

Keep in mind I liked the first Hulk movie, but you just know it was the word of mouth from the kids who thought it was "too slow" that killed it over the first month.

But if it's got a half-decent script and lots of action I think it will do OK. I don't think the first movie is necessarily representative of what the Hulk brand is capable of raking in.

I'll chime in with Speed Racer. Looks terrible, waaaay to busy. And cheesy.

They made a point to insert more action and hopefully the pacing of the plot gets us to those sequences in a believable fashion.
I think its easy to be hard on TIH because of the underperformance of Woo's Hulk plus the hype about the editing dispute between Norton and Marvel on the final cut of the film. These type of pre-judgements have been known to hurt movies so I hope its good enough to warrant positive word of mouth to change some minds.

I think the Hulk might survive if they keep the budget under control

Some of the biggest problems for scifi, comic book movies are their expensive budgets,
Superman Returns was the most expensive movie ever made costing massive $255 Million
and the fact this movie sucked didn't help its chance of avoiding being a flop

speed racer looks awesome, why does everyone think it will be bad?

My thoughts exactly, it looks like it's going to kick all kinds of ass!

That being said, I can understand why I'd be in the minority, so I'll join in with the idea that this thing is probably going to flop huge.

I saw speed racer's trailer and couldn't tell what age group they are aiming for. If other people had that responce then the movie is in big trouble.

I think Speed Racer will be a hit with the kids, which means it will be a hit.
I'm tempted to say The X-Files, but I hope it will be successful.

Speed Racer will make megabucks internationally whether we want it to or not.

Sadly, my pick for flop has to be the X-Files movie. :(

I would have picked Transformers to flop, so what do I know? Speed Racer looks exactly as silly.

Prince Caspian looks like an unimaginative take on a mediocre children's book. Incredible Hulk is known to have serious behind the scenes issues which often spells disaster. Nobody remembers that weird mythology for X-Files or wants to. Dark Knight looks like an absurd equation of dreary psycho Ledger to dreary emo Bale.

The only scifi movie I know of that seems to have an appropriately ligth touch is Iron Man, thanks to Downey. But see the first sentence of the post.

My response is more mixed than most; but certainly not as condemnatory as here. I love the pulpy bright retro look of the trailer; but sadly nothing else in it is as encouraging as that. But the former does go a long way for me.

Now there's an understatement.

I'll be remembering everyone here who was so sure it would to tank. "Oh, but I just mean in AMERICA" they'll all say.

"Yeah, whatever' is what the studio will say, on their way to the bank.

Speed Racer isn't going to dell with in the U.S. It just looks like a big mess.

I think the X-Files will do well, simply because it has more name appeal than Serenity ever did and it was made on very modest budget.

The Incredible Hulk won't bomb, but I have serious doubts that they'll make back their money domestically if the 150 million dollar production budget is true.

Doesn't the Hellbou seque come out this Summer?

I think that one is going to tank. *HARD*

It's going to sink like a boat made of solid lead.
