That's the thing that's really kicking me about this thread: I love mythology, and I know a lot of it. And yet I can't think of one fitting for my life!

I think you are much like a Tomte: always friendly and protective as long as nobody angers you. A bit shy but strong.

Actually, our family company which i work in is called "Hustomten", so "house gnome" in English

I speak a little Dutch and Gaelic, though, which are both similar enough to Swedish that I get the gist of the poem. Though not enough to be able to appreciate its beauty

Tack så mycket The vocabulary is from http://en.bab.la/dictionary/english-swedish/ - the grammar is from me, though. I've always had an instinct for how a language is constructed. Only Dutch grammar is a complete mystery to me

Your grammar is excellent! I've also always had a talent for languages. And sorry, I studied French and not German in school...

I chose Latin instead of French. I need it for my job and it's a good basis for learning other languages. But I'm just starting to learn French*, now. I have a friend in Provence who helps me and in return I help her improve her English.

* no jokes about French kissing, please. There's nothing left to learn for me in that department which provides an excellent bridge back to the thread's topic: my first BF used to call me Ishtar

I really like french, but no surprise seeing as my great great grandfather was Belgian. it's in my blood.

As for the french kissing I funnily enough did that with an American girl the first time
