What would you like to see in the second season of The Orville?

They need to show something to prove the show is a serious cutting edge thing.

Boobs, alien Boobs

Krill Boobs, Horvalak Boobs, Yaphit species Boobs and others.

And F-Bombs.

Some part of the ship should spin on its axis when they go to quantum drive. Because that's kewl.

More seriously, I'd like them to lean more toward the tone of episodes like the one with Charlize Theron, rather than the one with Rob Lowe and the alien diplomats.

I'd like some sign that they know what they're trying to do with this show. I've generally enjoyed it but TNG nostalgia plus dick jokes just doesn't seem like a longterm kind of thing.

Seems pretty clear to me that MacFarlane knows exactly what he's doing with this show, and I'm enjoying it.

Fox's marketing department may have been a bit confused, though.

I'd like to see more of the planetary union. What is it like, is there more than one kind of ship, stuff like that. Explore the world that was created.

Tighten up the scripts. Also do a better job punching up the scenes that go to commercial.

These stories are packed tight, accomplishing so much more in 40 minutes than modern Trek or similar shows ever do...any tighter, they'd explode.

More Star Trek actors. Give me Shatner, Takei, Nichols, or Keonig in some capacity.

Less humor, and more serious sci-fi. They did a great job this year. It was fun to watch.

They need to start season 2 having let Cmdr. Grey grow that beard they made her shave for the first season.

More world (galaxy) building. I like it so far but I would like to see the Union, know more about other galactic empires, see more ships and see more aliens.

Pretty much exactly what they are doing, just more of it.

Just keep the humor coming, this kinda sci-fi version of M.A.S.H. is working great.

I've been liking it the way it is. I wasn't expecting such depth, but that's what made it such a pleasant surprise. I think the first few episodes were a little rough with the humour, but I think it eventually found its place and we've seen less and less dick jokes as it went along.

But I wouldn't mind seeing more of everything. The world that's been created is an interesting one and would love to see more of how it all works, ie the politics, the alien races. Would love to see Elara's homeworld for instance.

I've got to say that the visit to Bortus's world was one of my favorite bits this year - and the stealth approach to that zoo world was another. They manage to balance a humorous POV on the cliches of "other worlds" with a real evocation of strangeness and the exotic that was mostly missing from the modern Trek shows.

Yeah, that's one of the things I really like about it. It's the kind of stuff that should have been evoked in Enterprise, but this show manages to make it work, and I think it's partly due to the humour in the way they explore things which goes at a deeper level.

Didn't we already have "what do you want in The Orville season 2" thread?
As for what I'd want, it would be nice to go a bit deeper into the characters' backstories, and possibly even meet more of their families. We met the characters in Season 1, so now it would be nice to get to know them a bit better in Season 2.
