What Would You Have Liked To Have Seen on ST:TNG?

Admiral
What are some things you would've like to have seen on Star Trek: The Next Generation?

Two things stand out for me.

I loved space battles and of course they were rare in the Next Generation.

I always wanted to see a serious battle between the Enterprise and one or more Romulan Warbirds with the Enterprise winning.

We got to see some good footage of the Enterprise being attacked by Romulan Warbirds. Most notably in "The Defector" and "Tin Man" in the third season.

But the only time we saw the Enterprise fire on a Romulan Warbird was the illusionary one in "Where Silence Has Lease".

I also would've like to have seen a conflict with the Borg that topped "The Best of Both Worlds".

A sequel to The Chase...

A conclusion to the Conspiracy episode.

Fewer stock FX shots.

I always wanted more crossovers with TOS. I always wanted to see what they did with DS9, Trials and Tribble-ations, but on TNG.
It has been discussed before, but a follow up to Piece of the Action would have been a natural.
less P.C.
More action

Saucer seperation used sensibly to resolve issues: e.g. spltting the ship at galorndon core in 'the enemy' leaving saucer in orbit to rescue la forge whilst the stardive section goes off to the neutral zone border to give tomalok and the romulans their marching orders etc etc.

Some things I would have liked to have seen in TNG (off the top of my head)…

• More guests (especially recurring) who were crewmembers on the Enterprise, such as seen in Lower Decks.
• Recurring appearances of Picard's superior officers, and developing relationships between them and him.
• Worf 'taking charge' more often and problem solving
• Showing more of LaForge's emotions.
• More adventurous camera shots that move around people, follow people down corridors and through doorways, and in general give more of a feeling of space and motion.
• Occasional uninterrupted scenes of people's entire journeys between rooms on the Enterprise, so you get a better feel of the scale of the ship, and it all seems more real.
• Data showing off his cool "super-human" skills more. (More than just performing calculations.) Abilities such as memory, or strength, or acute smell, that human characters such as McGuyver and Benton Fraser (from Due South) seemed to employ every episode. There is so much cool stuff Data could have done but never did.
• More 'everyday life' shots of the crew doing normal off-duty activities, without it needing to have relevance to the plot. Listening to music, for example.
• More incidents occurring out of normal shifts, when senior staff aren't always on the bridge.
• Maybe one episode that revolved around Guinan, and told us a lot about her history.
• Loads more references to previous episodes.
• More episodes where the crew aren't all together on the Enterprise — such as 'Timescape', where Picard, Troi, LaForge and Data are travelling on a runabout together. Separating the characters like this away from the Enterprise allows for new dynamics between characters to emerge, and for a more informal bonding to occur.
• One or two more enemies who were actually evil and wanted to hurt Picard and crew (either physically or mentally), and were smart enough to make a good attempt at it.
• More emotional conflict between crewmembers (not necessarily senior staff, but perhaps occasionally).
• Picard disobeying orders now and again and having to stand up for himself more.
• More looking out of the windows (especially at planets).
• Widescreen, high definition
• More model shots
• More "damage" to the models
• Improved planet sets
• Season 1 & 2 having a full orchestra for the incidental music (to be in keeping with the other seasons)
• More shots of Troi naked.

Hey, I've just realised something… almost every single one of my points are covered in the film 'First Contact'! (That's probably why I love that film so much :D)

Agreed.

Also, I'd like to have seen more aliens from the original series (Andorians, Tholians, First Federation, Orions, etc.).

I agree about wishing we had seen episodes on the Gorn, Tholians, Andorians, Tellerites, Organians, Escalbians, update on Talos IV.

SF nutting up and responding to overt and covert Romulan efforts. It would take prolly 2 Galaxies but they could teach the Rommies a tough lesson.

-More variety on the writer's part

-More Space Battles

-More stories on the Romulans

-Remastered with CGI.

-Yes I'd like a conculsion to "Conspiracy", too

-Like said before, more saucer separation
