What woud you do...

Sure, competition for resources would be harsh and violent. And hoarding isn't noble or particularly ethical.

But what is the alternative? I would not suddenly turn pacifist or fatalist and just wait to die. If there is some form of government or authority distributing food and water I'd try to help that entity. If not, I'd set out on my own with whoever I can trust within walking distance to find whatever can keep us alive.

And yeah, pretty much everyone else would be doing the same thing I expect.

I would probably make friends with Bear Grylls real fast.

Because he really survives out there on his own and does the amazing things he does without the help of the producers, researches and entire television show production crew that are along with him?

When you're faced with survival, nobility and ethics aren't going to mean much. You will most likely find that you have to compromise both to stay alive.

if a mysterious force rendered all sources of technology around the world inert?

Why, get my own magical animal totem, of course...

There's a Visionaries/Bear/piss-drinking joke in here; someone work it out for me, would you?

Someone beat me to the Visionaries joke. ;)
You still have a fabulous sun sword and a sorceress princess in spandex with you. Plus a non verbal hairy dude along for the ride. ;)

Just because he has a production crew with him to make the show, that means he doesn't have the skills to survive on his own? How do you think he got the show in the first place? Did they just grab a guy of the street, give him a "wilderness" name and tell him what to do on camera?
