Hi there again, the old year has only hours left so I go on with a tradition of mine and look back to all the novels I was reading this year. My count this year is 57 books and the list thereof follows below. Now I wish you all out there a happy ‘reading’ –year 2012! I would like it if you would share some of your reading-experiences of 2011. Meanwhile have a nice time and a happy new year!

I knew this thread was coming eventually and I've been ready. The year was mostly a Star Trek year, playing catch-up after a ten-year TrekLit hiatus. I plan to continue with the TrekLit into this New Year but should have quite a few more non-Trek related books in 2012 now that I'm getting caught up.

I actually started making a list of everything I read from the middle of March 2011. In that year, I was determined to catch up with the A Time to... series and, more importantly, Vanguard. The year also gave me a chance to read some well regarded novels from Trek's past.

  • Declassified (VGD)
  • Balance of Power (TNG)
  • A Choice of Catastrophes (TOS)

  • In the Name of Honor (TOS)
I'm currently reading both Swordhunt and No Limits at the moment, and I hope to catch up with New Frontier in 2012.

Here's how my 2011 went. For the most part I went in a pattern; 1 Trek book, 1 SW book, and then one non-media SF book.

Star Trek: Myriad Universes- Shattered Light
Star Trek: Typhon Pact- Rough Beasts of Empire
Star Trek: Typhon Pact- Paths of Disharmony
Star Trek: Department of Temporal Investigations- Watching the Clock
Star Trek: Voyager- Children of the Storm
Star Trek: Vanguard- Declassified
Star Trek: Vanguard- What Judgments Come
Star Trek: Indistinguishable from Magic
Star Trek: Mirror Universe- Rise Like Lions

Star Wars: Fate of the Jedi- Vortex
Star Wars: Outbound Flight
Star Wars: The Old Republic- Deceived
Star Wars: Fate of the Jedi- Conviction
Star Wars: The Approaching Storm
Star Wars: Fate of the Jedi- Ascension
Star Wars: Riptide
Star Wars: Episode II: Attack of the Clones

Time Travelers Never Die (by Jack McDevitt)
The Dreaming Void (by Peter F. Hamilton)
The Chronoliths (by Robert Charles Wilson)
The Long, Dark Tea Time of the Soul (by Douglas Adams)
The Man Who Folded Himself (by David Gerrold)
Offworld (by Robin Parrish)
The Future of Us (by Jay Asher and Carolyn Mackler)

I don't remember for sure what I read when, but I'm pretty sure I read these in the last few months.
Dead Witch Walking (The Hollows bk1)
Club Dead (Southern Vampire Mysteries/True Blood bk3)
Summer Knight (Dresden Files bk4)
Mort (Discworld)
Of Muppets & Men: The Making of the Muppet Show
Spock's World
Zero Sum Game
Rough Beasts of Empire
Paths of Disharmony
There be a few others, but so I do tend to take a while to get through books so I'm not sure how many more. One of my goals for the new year is to cut down the number of books I try to read at once so I can finish more of them quicker. I also plan on keeping better track of what I finished when on Shelfari.

Star Trek, Doctor Who, music, mysteries including several Hard Case Crime books, some Lovecraftian stuff, some Philip K. Dick, some literary fiction, a fair number of graphic novels, some good new fantasy and SF... and a Coronation Street novelization. Not a bad mix. Tagged some of the titles to get a sense of trends. As has probably been the case for some time, there's more Doctor Who than Star Trek, and more crime fiction than non tie-in science fiction or fantasy.

2011 was all about getting back into TrekLit for me, so making a list by heart takes to long, but to give an idea...

The last DS9-R book I read was Warpath, so I read all the DS9 books after that one, including The Neverending Sacrifice.
All Titan books.
Q&A, Greater Then The Sum and Before Dishonour, so I could start reading...
Destiny
Then, Losing The Peace and A Singulair Destiny, then followed by...
All The Typhon Pact books, except for The Struggle Within, still need to read that one.
All the Vanguard Novels.
All The Lost Era novels, including The Buried Age and Cast No Shadows.
From the Section 31 series I only read the DS9 entry, as part of The Relaunch, so bougth and read the remaining once.
All three Voyager novels by Kirsten Beyer
DTI: Watching The Clock
Indistinguishable from magic

Uhm..... Think that was it..... Perhaps I missed one or two, but oh well...
