Well, there you have it. The history of Earth is already so ridiculously over-littered with alien influences that you might as well throw your hands up and just enjoy a good story, if it's well told. I mean, right from Apollo the jig was up.I hope not. Trek already has the Greco-Roman "gods" and South American "gods" and "Jack the Ripper" and the violence inducing ball of energy and Lucien from Megas Tu and candle ghosts and Preservers ad at least two different species of alien slavers and *shudder* sky spirits visiting and influencing early Earth, which is the last thing it seems like Gene "humans did those things because we're clever!" Roddenberry would be a fan of.
But I like the idea of giving the Ancient Bajorans more cachet. Picard's line about them in "Ensign Ro" being around for so long and influencing other planets with their art and architecture, that wasn't sufficiently followed upon sufficiently for me. It's just a shame, a waste. DS9 said they never left their star system....huh? And that Cardassia was the next one over....quintuple huh? This I think would be cooler. A vast ancient civilization that influenced the quadrant. It's Romantic in a way. And makes them more than candle huffing cultists who never did much in half a million years. I think there are a number of interesting stories, from a number of different periods and perspectives, to be told with them.
