Much as I love the original (and pootering around the Nostromo in Isolation), I can watch Aliens (DC) over and over any time and never feel like fast-forwarding.

Alien is a superior piece of art but Aliens is a ton of fun. Aliens is the Rocky IV of the Alien films

This. They are both superb but Aliens just pipped it for me. Alien3 loses too many points for killing three principal characters in the opening credits instead of as part of the main plot. Lame.

Also, take a good look at Alien and then compare it to Prometheus. A big budget and grand ideas really don't make up for terrible writing.

Speaking of terrible writing, I love the concept of Alien so much that I even did a comic strip of a cross-over with ST:TMP. My one regret is that I didn't put Janice Rand in her underwear at the end.

This could well be my potential favourite Alien :)

Did Chekov bite the dust? Need I ask how?:borg:

Ha! The only 'regular' I blew up so far was Decker clone 1. Plenty of time yet for a massacre.

Alien.

Completely character driven haunted house movie that happens to be on a spaceship. Saw it for the first time in the theater and still remember it's impact.

What really impressed me was the things which were never explained but added depth. Ripley and Dallas had a history- the way they interacted was more like harried lovers who had moved on than Captain-Officer. It was not part of the prime story line, but you felt the history before the film's events.

Aliens is a close runner up but it is a totally different movie experience. Between the two styles I prefer the classic haunted house vibe over the edge of the seat action.
