What was Sisko's worst command decision?

Punching Q in the face probably wasn't one of his brighter moves. Lucky for him Q seemed to find it amusing.

Siskos worst command decison? Not asking the prophets to stopp dominion wormhole traffic in the first place.

I think that his life had to have been in imminent danger for them to act. He didn't know that until after they sent that fleet away.

I always wondered what happened to that Dominion fleet. I can't see the Prophets destroying them. They could have sent them to the Delta Quadrant and they wouldn't threaten anyone for some time, other than the Borg. In which case, that would be a difficult fight for the Dominion to win.

As far as we know, the wormhole only exits on either end, so I don't think they could throw them anywhere else.

Now, anywhen else, THAT can be done easily by them.

Given how bleak the future of DISCOVERY season 3 seems to be, based on the promos, I wondered if that fleet was sent to a time a bit before the Discovery arrives. That could be a good reason why the Federation collapsed... complacency in the face of 2,000 ships.

never played that far, but i am pretty sure star trek online deals with the fleet of the wormhole...

To me Sisko could have at least ask in season 1.

not season 1. when the dominion thread was clear. Use the prophets as door stewards only letting nice people into the alpha quadrant ;)

The novels offer one answer to this question.

Would taking command of the Defiant in “Tears of the Prophets” count.

If he gives command of the ship over to Kira, Worf or Dax. Dax is on the Defiant and not on the station meaning she wouldn’t have been killed by Dukat.

Every Captain has a few bad calls. Which one do you think was Sisko's? I think the big one is maybe not even his fault but Starfeet and even Bajor and that is they should have shutdown the Wormhole in season 3 soon as they found out the Founders were in the AQ. Maybe the Dominion would eventually come but it would give them time to at least prepare for them.

Jason
He should use whatever technology they had have infinitely replicating mines, and simply use it to create infinite mines.

Is there any specific requirement that a mine has to be destroyed, ere another mine can replicate it's replacement? Can they not exponentially multiply and mine the entire universe to target only Dominion ships to win the war?

Is there any way that Sisko could possibly have known that?

Been a while but didn’t the prophets warn him against going.

Yes they did. It's why he goes into a depressed funk for awhile after that, he blames himself for Jadzia's death.

That being said. Admiral Ross made him make a decision, be a Captain or be the Emissary.
