If I recall that was one of the nerd questions that a Trek fan asked in that SNL skit with Shatner were he told them all to get a life. Was the number listed or does anyone know? Have we ever even seen a locker on "TOS?" Only time I can think of where that might make since is "Charlie X" when he and Charlie is in the gym. Jason
The question in the SNL skit was, when Kirk left his quarters for the last time in Episode 25, the episode "where you and the crew of the Enterprise get attacked by these spores, and started acting real weird, like hippies and stuff" (obviously This Side of Paradise), what was the combination on Kirk's safe? This was just a joke. I don't think Kirk's safe appeared in that episode. Kor
^ It was a joke, but it was a pretty well-informed joke, because Kirk does open a safe-like cabinet in TSoP. I remember thinking "At least one Star Trek fan helped write this sketch!" http://tos.trekcore.com/hd/albums/1x24hd/thissideofparadisehd489.jpg
That's funny. Push any buttons, any number of times, in any order, and the stage-hand slides the door open.
Ah, but it did! When Kirk retrieves the command packet and the pivotal medal. (The sketch was written with me in mind, natch. Although the hippie reference threw the 18 year-old me; at 49, it makes perfect sense.) I think that's an affirmative Get A Life! Written by: Bob Odenkirk & Judd Apatow
Interesting! I didn't remember that compartment. It's been a while since I saw the episode... I just relied on the "Safe" entry on Memory Alpha, which didn't list this episode as an appearance of Kirk's safe! Kor
Yup, if I remember correctly the safe had five buttons and at one time I did know the combination! But I like my life.
Loved this skit from day 1. Always thought it was made with affection (on the part of the SNL folks anyway, ) based on the items on the trading table and hanging on the walls alone.
