What TOS guest stars have you met/seen at cons?

With the passing of Don Marshall (Lt. Boma from "The Galileo Seven") on Oct. 30th and Jan Shutan turning 84 yesterday (Nov. 5th), we TOS fans realize there aren't many actors / actresses left from those years. I would like to know what TOS guest stars you have met or at least seen over the years at Star Trek conventions. Please include photos of the stars if possible. :) (By the way, has anyone ever seen Jan Shutan at a convention?)

When I was about 14 (circa 1996), I met Bruce Hyde at a small, local con. He was a really nice guy, who remembered my name from an earlier conversation, but talked about a bunch of subjects that weren't really of interest to the (admittedly small) audience.

I also met Julie Newmar at a much larger con. Obviously, most of questions were Catwoman related. I remember asking about her Trek role. I got the impression she didn't think too highly of the part.

I met Yvonne Craig, and again, most of the talk was about the 60's Batman (though someone also asked her about working with Elvis in one of his movies). Very nice lady. She said Vincent Price was her favorite "Special Guest Villain" and mention that Alan Napier (Alfred) came from a prominent British family who had apparently looked down on his acting career. I mentioned that he was a cousin of Neville Chamberlain, which she apparently didn't know.

It didn't occur to me until after that neither I, nor anyone else, had thought to ask her about her Trek role. (Sidenote: at the con, I saw a She-Hulk action figure at one of the dealer's tables and joked that it was a figure of her Orion character).

I met Eddie Paskey last month. Really nice guy to talk to. There was a woman with him who looked quite stern. Wasn't sure if it was his wife or agent but she looked like she really didn't want to be there.

Well, it wasn't at a convention, but the late Leonard Nimoy was in my town a few years ago to do a dinner theater show. I just happened to see him and his staff at a local restaurant. :vulcan:

If we are restricting it to guest stars, I "met" Mark Lenard (got his autograph) in 1986, and saw Arnold Moss at a cheesey con at a TravelLodge outside JFK airport circa 1983 (I think the same con had "the guy with the high forehead" on the early bridge scene from TMP:)). Have not been to a con since spring of 1987.

I met Roger Carmel at a convention in Denver in 1984. He was very congenial and gracious. And he was the exception that proves the rule that the camera adds ten pounds. He was this huge bear of a man, very tall and broad. I had reached full growth by that time, and being near him made me feel very small.

I've never met any of the Trek actors at conventions, mainly because I don't like the idea of paying my hard saved cash just to speak and get an autograph from them! But I've seen George Takei, Walter Koenig and even the Shat himself behind glass! Nearly got to see Nimoy but we couldn't find the way into the centre believe it or not!

I spoke to and got a picture of Nichelle Nichols, wonderful lady. Saw The Shat sitting at a table signing autographs.

Of the guest stars, I've met Don Marshall, Mark Lenard, John Colicos, John Fiedler, Barbara Luna, Warren Stevens, Frank Gorshin, Lee Meriwether, Yvonne Craig and Beverly Washburn. Over the years, I've met all of the main cast, except Grace Lee Whitney. I even managed to shake hands with Gene Roddenberry, briefly, in 1977 in Salt Lake City.

Guest stars....

I've met Gary Lockwood at a convention in Sacramento. We talked about 2001. Nice guy.

I've also met Barbara Luna at a convention in San Francisco. I was wearing a Rush shirt and she came up to me. We had both been at the same Rush concert the night before in San Jose. I ended up talking to her and her boyfriend about music for a half an hour or so. Wonderful people.

Majel and Nimoy back in the early 90s. Both very pleasant

Edit - no guest stars I don't think. Although some may occur to me.

I've met quite a few, although I don't remember all of them. Not too hard when you go to many conventions and live in Los Angeles. I sadly don't know all their real names, so I'll use character names where I have to. Celeste Yarnell, "beeping and scarred " Christopher Pike, Grace Lee Whitney, Garry Lockwood, Stonn, Arlene Martel, William Windom, Ricardo Montalban, Lee Merriweather, Julie Newmar, Don Marshall. There may be a few others but I've forgotten.

All were very nice. Don Marshall was incredibly friendly. Very kind to my son who was young at the time, as was Stonn.

Gary Lockwood was also nice and funny. Chatted about 2001. I got the quote under my signature from my first meeting with him when a fan came up and asked a fairly silly question.

William Windom I ran into giving blood at the Red Cross.

Meeting Lee Merriwether was fairly interesting since I was with my father who was her daughter's history teacher in Junior High School.

Hmm, I forgot about Gorshin, didn't really meet him, but saw him in a performance of "Say Good Night, Gracie" on Broadway, circa 2003, in which he played George Burns onstage, never breaking character, and even dressed and made up to look like Burns. Didn't really look like him, but if you closed your eyes...

Awwww lucky! I always wanted to see him in that show!

Yeah, sadly he died only a couple years later. I had wanted to see him going back to 1989 (or so) when he played at one of the Atlantic City Casinos.

I once heard Hyde speak about his animal philosophy book at a con near Baltimore. His theory was that animals couldn't communicate because they didn't have the abstract language required to formulate it, or something like that. When I met him in the autograph line, I said I disagreed. He perked up and seemed ready to discuss, but I quickly walked away, too shy to continue. I'm sure he would have dissected my ill-formed ideas, but I still regret not engaging him.

Carmel always seemed like a fascinating personality. I would loved to have met him.

Barbara went slightly DeNiro on me.

Seems like an interesting anecdote. Care to elaborate?
