What stories MUST be told?

Interesting suggestions here are mine:

-Temporal Cold War (I agree that maybe a duology or trilogy detailing it's beginning and revealing who Future Guy was would be compelling)
It's actually already been discussed in this thread that DTI: Watching the Clock, will focus on the TCW.
-Ambassador Spock book (detailing his missing years between Star Trek VI and Unification)
Don't Vulcan's Soul, and Vulcan's Heart pretty much cover this territory?

I´d like some more books around Cardassia, pre war, war, after war.
Also I certainly would love a good written book showing us the time from the Groumall to the end of the war through Damars eyes, more details of his life during the time and his thoughts.
Or also a book that concentrates on the time period of the cardassian rebellion jumping between told by Damar, by Kira, by Garak. Sort of we see one situation, can also be scenes from the show, but also things we didn´t see in the show, that might could have happend inbetween and then we get to read how each of the characters perceived the situations and the others and how the characters and relationships slowly change.

-novelization of Star Trek Starfleet Academy (the abandoned film)

Hmm... if we're including abandoned projects, I wouldn't mind seeing a novelization of The Beginning. And I'd love to see a novelization of The Secret of Vulcan Fury (abandoned video game)... by D.C. Fontana, of course!

@JD sure those books dealt with that time period but that doesn't mean that there isn't room for another take on that period. I'm thinking along the lines of a Lost Era style book, maybe even titled "Star Trek: Spock The Lost Era" or something like that.

I though Watching the Clock is only touching on the TCW not focusing on it...if it's focusing on it then my mistake. Either way though I'd still like a trilogy or duology.

^I'm under the impression DTI is all about a 24th century front in the TCW, and it'll tie it in to all the unexplained temporal anomolies in TNG (I'm expecting stuff like "it was a red matter bomb from the future that opened the time vortex that brought the Enterprise-C to the TNG era")

^ Okay...I'm very much looking forward to DTI...was sold on the concept the moment that Christopher revealed the book to us.

I'm expecting more of Christopher. He's not a big fan of Small Universe Syndrome. If various elements do tie together I'm sure it'll be handled much more elegantly.

That can be the sequel: DTI: SUS ...

DULMER: The universe...it's getting too small! Soon everyone will know everyone else! Why, I just met Scotty, Vash, Trelene, Kodos, Leeta, Weyoun and Sela this morning alone!

LUCSLY: This must be what those genetically engineered guys from those Bashir episodes were talking about! The universe isn't collapsing - it's shrinking!

Tune in next week for another thrilling installment of Department of Temporal Investigations! (*cue cheesy theme tune*)

I think that anything dealing with WWIII should be tied into the "Grand Century" from that dark time to the advent of the Federation in 2161.

It seems to me that there is a grand story in how humanity descended into yet another world war, this one with nuclear weapons, and the consequent rise of Colonel Green. Then comes First Contact and warp drive. The 22nd Century kicks off with the formation of United Earth and the colonization of Alpha Centauri. Then to cap it off you get the ENT era and the Federation.

In 100 years humanity goes from nearly blasting ourselves into oblivion to embracing interstellar and interspecies government.

Yeah, a big grand epic.

The triumphant return of Janeway! :techman:

(Oh, come on. You knew this would show up sooner or later in this thread, didn't you?). :guffaw:
