What song are you "embarrassed" to like?

Is there some piece of music, whether a "regular" song, TV theme, or commercial jingle that you would be hesitant to admit to your friends or family that you liked?

Two of mine are the theme from Banana Splits and The Last Farewell, by Roger Whittaker.

No, I have none of those... I'm too old for that.

Plus, society around me has changed so much that it isn't even considered bad taste to like original soundtracks any more... the local symphonic orchestra even plays them!

No. If I like a song, I have no problem listening to it anywhere, or even singing it if the mood strikes me.

I'm a bit embarrassed about liking some of Avril Lavigne's earlier songs, considering most of her fans were about one-third my age. But just about everyone agrees her more recent music sucks.

She's still cute, though.

I'm not embarrassed by anything I like-- although I like a lot of things that people think should embarrass me. :rommie:

I love both of those songs.

I have no problem with liking a particular piece or style of music, but I am pretty sure I know some people in Society who are embarrassed at the fact that I like a lot of Yanni's work...

If you like Queen of Hearts by Juice Newton (she's so cute in the video), then you are my long lost twin. ;)
I love that song and that video and Juice Newton in general. I saw her live a couple of years ago at my local theater (they book musical acts as well as theatrical plays). If you're 53 years old and were born in Boston, I'm going to go have a talk with Mom.

Been listening to a lot of Kpop lately. Hubs objects and points out I have no idea what they are singing about. Have told him if the lyrics are as foolish as English lyrics pop music I'm better off not knowing!

As much as it's going to make me sound like a cantankerous old fart (which I am, but that's not the point) I can't understand a lot of the lyrics of songs nowadays. My hearing's not great, and the more the voice is digitally messed around with the harder I find it to understand what is being said. Probably a good thing, as they're probably not saying anything profound.

I have a playlist on my iPod called "80s cheesiness", and I'm not embarrassed by it. Rock Me, Amadeus, anyone?

As with all decades some of it was complete and utter crap, but some of it is still good, if cheesy. As proof that 80s music has never died my daughter and several of her friends know a lot of 80s music because they've been subjected to it by their parents. They all know when to start playing the air bongos when they hear Spandau Ballet's Gold.

Get them to listen to Sara Cox's 80s show on Saturday nights. A lot of now forgotten 80s music gets an airing there. :)

I make compilation CDs so I can listen to them in my car, and so I label them for my own amusement. I have an 80s compilation CD called "Power of Love 1980s - Can You Feel It Motherfucker?!" and also a 90s CD called "A Shitload of 90s Songs." My favorite, though, is my compilation of black metal and industrial metal songs, lovingly titled "Satan Is My Co-Pilot." All of them labeled with black sharpie, because I'm classy as fuck.

(And yes, I've reached my limit for swearing in this thread, so have no fear)
