Sounds like an interesting game, I'll have to take a look at it.I'd very much like to see something along the lines of Mass Effect. It would be perfect for Star Trek.
Anyone who like GalCiv/MoO/BotF style 4x games should take a look at Distant Worlds. Don't let that it's 2D put you off. It's a gem of a game.
And I've made some Star Trek mods for it too. Unfortunately, we can't mod much yet, but there's an expansion in the works that will improve modding greatly.
I've done an Archer era mod :- http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2562947
A Kirk era mod :- http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2619128
A Spock era mod :- http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2709511
And a TNG era mod :- http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2497781
The game isn't cheap, but if you like 4x, you won't be disappointed.
Me, I would like to see a Star Trek Game based on the concept of Gal Civ II. Where in you could play any of the factions of Star Trek, build up your resources, design ships and go to war. I think a nice RPG element would be cool where in you could assign offers to command your ships. Follow specific ships and kind of keep a running narrative of what happened in your "universe".
I know it has probably been said before but I would love to see a Birth of the Federation sequel or at least a new Trek game in the same genre.

Im currently involved in the development of an indie Trek game, and this is a very interesting thread for insight into what fans are looking for. We are not going to be making it public for a few months, but I can tell you its a First-Person game, heavily influenced by mass effect - and we are also going to be using kinect. Direct control of the ship however, is not going to be included. Ship combat is still going to be in though, i cant say much more on that yet. It is also episodic based, in theme with the tv shows, lasting an hour-2 each. You will be able to free-roam on your ship.
Whats peoples thoughts on this. What would you like to see? Is not controlling the ship a real put off for players? I personally feel like controlling the ship is used too often in mainstream titles. Any feedback would be very helpful.
Thanks.
If it's gonna be like Mass Effect, then you're onto a good thing IMO.
