What Season Shall I Get?

Hey all!

I've finally made the decision to purchase Star Trek on DVD, and I’m starting off with TNG.

While the ideal way would be to get the series box set, it is not my preferred way at the moment. Though I might change my mind!

Can I please ask for everyone’s recommendation as to which season I should get first apart from 1 & 2? Seasons 1 & 2 contained some pretty good episodes but were far outnumbered by poorly produced & written episodes that were utterly forgettable. Don’t get me wrong, I intend to acquire all the seasons but 1 & 2 will be purchased last!

I’m leaning with either season 3, 4 or 5 at this time.

Most will tell you to get 3, and I agree. The series improved substantially with this season, and many consider it to be the best season of any Trek. Plus, there are some specific episodes that you wouldn't want to miss.

If you're planning to get them all eventually, you could do a lot worse than to get seasons 3-5 in order. Three consecutive years of solid Trek goodness, and definitely TNG at its best.

Start with Season 3.

It was the season that TNG started having many above average episodes in a row. Also the better uniforms were introduced. The season 3 finale "The Best of Both Worlds" is still considered the best TNG episode to this day by most Trek fans and is must own if you are planning to buy the dvds.

I'd go for three. It's got a lot of the best episodes, and you might as well go on from there. Alternatively, season six.

You can watch Picard be abducted three different times this season.

I suggest 3rd, 4th or 6th season, they are all great.
My favorite is season 4.
