Just a little off-topic, but I would like to see the introduction of a new species/group of species encountered that would be similar in principles to the Federation but apart from it.
Remember the old TOS day analogy of the Feds being the USA, the Klingons a USSR counterpart, the Romulans as China (and even the Cardassians later as Space Nazis)? I'm talking about a smaller but active grouping of planets comparable to Europe, potential allies but determined to go their own way and none to keen on some of the Federation policies and practices. Something like the "First Federation" could have been. What thinkest folks about this idea?
