I would say 2 in 6. It is already clear we are going to have a diverse human cast, so we don't need that many interesting aliens.

Well since I'm a pessimist I believe that most people want human characters, so I hope max 2.

All this talk about not wanting human/alien hybrids got me thinking. What about alien/alien hybrids? Have we seen that before? I was thinking of the orange Androian makeup. What would a an Andorian/Klingon look like :P

First of all, I would like an alien captain. Now it can be achieved easily given the main (human) character is not a captain.

Secondly - someone really different. Either with completely different views, maybe even amused of human values who doesn't want or need to fit in the human society or someone with a completely different biology. Or both.

Thirdly, an Andorian.

Zeeal(sp?) in DS9 was part Bajoran and part Cardasshole.

I like the idea of the Discovery being one of the first ships with a mixed federation crew. With the human crew in a minority, it would allow there to be conflict between the races, as they all learn to work and live together.

The poll is confusing. Are we supposed to convert the options to percentages?

I'll go for 1 in 6 = 1/6 = 16.67%

I agree. I'd also like to a kind of "anti-Worf" a human brought up on an alien world struggling to fit back into human culture. (7 of 9 doesn't count!)

Since segregation is legal in the Federation then make the ship all human with the token black person oops I mean alien.

I voted 6 in 6 because it would be interesting to not have a non-human commenting on humanity.
That would actually be a first for Star Trek and often aliens make the cast look a bit more diverse than it actually is by putting make up and latex on white guys. Data, Odo, Neelix, Phlox and others were kind of cheating when it comes to diversity.
