What other alien race could've worked on DS9 for Jadzia Dax?

I read on Memory Alpha several alien species were considered for Dax before they settled on Trills (and then totally redid them). Now I'm wondering what other species could've been used in that role on DS9, and how that would've affected the character and her relationships with other characters

Sargon's People.

Something more transhuman, like the Bynars, with computer based personality and adding information.

Chameloid who has lived as different things and very long lived and has a variety of experience.

Sargon from TOS?

Chameloid is interesting because that could clash with Changelings

Jadzia should basically have been female Spock. Make her Vulcan.

In some ways Trills were DS9 Vulcans with the whole living long lives and reincarnation thing. But Trills are way more outwardly emotional

Jem'Hadar and Cardassians also are like Klingon and Romulan expies but DS9 had those 2 races as well

He really wanted to avoid major overt connections with TOS when TNG was first pitched, and then that softened, with Worf and using one of the TOS baldrics, and McCoy's appearance and eventually a Vulcan character.

Now I wonder what Worf could've been if he wasn't a Klingon (probably nothing)

He originally didn't want Romulans as well, hence the Ferengi. The Ferengi came across so bad that the Romulans were taken out of the mothballs, much to TNG's eventual credit... and to DS9's a few years later, since TNG couldn't begin to turn the Ferengi around into a credible species. And then DS9, after a strong start, later turned them back into farce anyway. :\

Ironic, then, how not only did the Ferengi get more fleshed out than the Romulans in the end anyways, but that the Borg and the Cardassians somewhat supplanted the Romulans afterwards

Guys, watch that episode on TNG, the Thrill are the only compatible species for the symbiont.
