Some years ago, I started sketching out my own ideas for a Trek reboot for role-playing games. I envisioned a similar concept for terrifying warriors, but incorporated a symbiotic relationship with an intelligent parasite that guided the beast. Don't take my Jadzia quip to be anything more than a stab at humor, I like this idea!

That's probably what Klingons were originally. Then some ancient aliens took humans and genetically mixed them with this, to get the regular bumpy forehead Klingons we know today.

As a dinophile/SF fan/amateur artist, I've been a fan of Barlowe since he published The Guide to Extraterrestrials in 1979, when he was only about 20 years old. His designs for Hellboy, Pacific Rim, and Avatar are amazing. I admire anyone who can design and draw realistic nonhuman aliens (such as that Atolm guy).
