What kind of Short-Medium term shelter should away teams use when Planet-side?

If a Away Team is Planet-Side doing Short-Medium term detailed Scientific Survey/Studies/Exploration, what kind of Shelter technology should they be using for their base camp?

I'm assuming they don't want to leave a significant foot-print when leaving and having to clean-up a giant mess.

So no beaming down permanent structures like a giant Pre-Fab building.

Pre-Fab buildings seem like a "Long-Term" solution.

Given the popularity of "Inflatable" Camping Shelter / Structures and the use of "Inflatable" Space habitats that can be easily erected with a simple Air Pump used IRL.

Even the modern military uses inflatable structures for temporary base camps.

Combine Inflatable Structures with Light-Weight, High Durability outter armor panels mounted on the inflatble core structure, you have a solution that is likely to with-stand most of nature and be highly durable to most things that can affect you while you're on a Short-Medium term away missions.

Remember, the Enterprise-D had Phaser Resistant Polymer Barrels, so who's to say that they can't make trivially light weight Phaser Resistant armored panels to mount on the outside of their inflatable structure.

The nice thing about Air filled Structures in your temporary shelter is that Trapped Air is a "Great" insulator.

well, Tents were used in ENT for away teams, and i'd imagine that later eras would have those as well, since they're fairly simple and can be made to pack away into portable containers.

they also get mentioned by the colonists of Melona Colony (TNG "silicon avatar") as being used while the colony erected its first "residential pods".

in VOY a set of "modular shelters" were left for Chakotay and Janeway once when they had to be left behind on a planet. i'd would figure these are comparable to the IRL prefab base structures military's use for building field bases. for the scenario you are assuming, i'd guess they'd provide them with some Tents to stay in for the first few days, while they erect the modular shelters.

Depends on what the mission is and how long the stay. Simple tent of fabric to the prefab stuff from voyager.
Doesn't need to be phased resistant unless your setting up a prefab that will act as a defense area.

In "Devil in the Dark," McCoy said... what was it? "I had the ship beam down a hundred pounds of that thermoconcrete. You know, the kind we use to build emergency shelters out of. It's mostly silicon."

It sounds like it's a bit more durable than the standard overnight shelter for landing parties, something especially for storms or other harsh conditions (and, as always, you have to explain why they didn't use it in "The Enemy Within,") but it seems like concrete construction is an option for away teams. If it's mostly silicon, it could probably be smashed down into common sand when they leave if the structure needs to be eliminated for PD reasons, if not beamed back up and somehow un-cured and deconstituted for reuse.
