What kind of Armaments would be needed to survive the Krell Ambush scenario from ST:Beyond?

Let's assume that you need to prepare your StarShip for a potential "Ambush scenario" similar to what Krell had with the Ten's of Thousands of small Attack Ships that Krell had prepared.

You only have your one StarShip & whatever Shuttles / Fighters you can stash on board, and enough Weapons / Ammo to last that fight to either Win, or escape in 1 piece.

You can't contact home and ask for backup unless you travel back through whatever large spatial disturbance that obstructs your SubSpace radio signals.

How much more over powered would your Single StarShip need to be to survive ten's of thousands to hundreds of thousands of angry little ships that aren't afraid of Kamikazing your vessel.

Would you need to be USS Vengeance level of armed readiness?

More than USS Vengeance?

How many Ball Turrets would you need on your Constitution class or your lone StarShip of choice to survive that type of encounter?

Remember the old proverb of: Quantity has a Quality of it's own.

How well armed and tough do you think you need to be to defeat a Swarm of enemy ships of that magnitude.

I would not want to take on Krall’s bees with anything less than a Borg tactical cube…Let them do their Amazon torpedo/ breaching pod thing with a largely vacant ship with armaments. Maybe a set-up like the holo-ship from Insurrection…only the key here is to trick some of Krall’s soldiers into firing at others. They see fellow soldiers as the enemy and fire. Now scavenge their uniforms.

Let them come to you in blocky, expendable ships. Once you’ve soaked them up like a sponge and seized a few for interrogation, the gel in your double hull has glued them fast. Beam to your cloaked escape craft after keying the auto-destruct, allowing the whole hornets nest to burn.

Don’t play Krall’s game—make him play yours.

Consult the book of Armaments!

And Saint Admiral Marcus raised the Vengeance up on high, saying, Oh Lord, bless this thy starship, that with it thou mayest blow thine Krall enemies to tiny bits, in thy mercy. And the Lord did grin, and the Starfleet did feast upon the lambs, and sloths, and Gagh, and anchovies, and orangutans, and breakfast cereals...

And Admiral Marcus spake, saying, First shalt thou take out thy holy photon torpedoes. Then shalt thou count to Three: No more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Once the number three, being the third number bereached, then lobbest thou the holy photon torpedoes towards thy foe, who being naughty in thy sight, shall snuff it.

Do you believe the USS Vengeance would've survived/won against Krell's Ambush if Admiral Marcus took that ship in as configured in "ST:ID", assuming he had a fully crewed ship and all weapons available as specified in the design of the ship for the movie. The Twin Spinning balls of doom are available that never got shown on screen?

In the firefight Kirk never ordered any maneuvers and left the Enterprise a stationary target. If there was a do-over and in your scenario, there was "enough weapons/ammo to last that win the fight" then Kirk should've ordered full reverse or even warp speed as soon as possible - think "Balance of Terror" to keep distance and let the phasers fire until they're all destroyed.

That could take a while given how many enemies there are, and who's to say that the enemies won't swarm around your vessel and envelope your ship in a Spherical attack pattern where they enclose you and peck you to death with their ten's of thousands of weak little energy blasters.

Small craft can go to warp, so playing keep away could be hard since we don't know how fast those small craft are at FTL speeds.

If they were that much faster then the Franklin wouldn't have been able to maneuver and surf the swarm and Yorktown would've fallen quicker.

They were able to outmanuever the Enterprise and slice off it's Nacelles & Star Drive.

Yeah because Kirk never ordered any maneuvers. The entire fight was shields, fire and then the realization they were in trouble and got swarmed. Watch "Balance of Terror" and you'll see Kirk order an immediate reverse and then emergency warp to back away from the Romulan attack.
