Video game designer. I come up with the game idea, and the programmers write it.

There's nothing to stop you from designing video games in your free time if that's something you enjoy doing. You don't have to have programmers at hand in order to design the game. Just as writing a story/script doesn't require you to have a film director at hand.

Personally, I'm not all that fond of playing computer games, but I do actually enjoy the design aspect.

If you want to share any of your game ideas here on the forums, I'm sure many people would enjoy reading about and reviewing your designs.

ideally :: I would like to just be, you know, asleep or dead or both: really enjoy the minimal effort life., right now: I do all I can do to keep on doing all things possible but the goal is yep to not do anything at all in isolation or theoretical isolation with nothing bothering me and just really be oblivious to all things that can and could be anywhere or have any way of being at all.

I'm on the path. BS in Int. Poli. Econ. Just moved from Infantry to Psychological Operations. About to get six months of Russian. Army will pay for Grad school so in 3 years when I get out should have a Masters of Science of International Relations (Troy State offers it here)... So with Russian, German, a MSIR and being a Vet.... should be good.

Have D.C. in your sights at all?

Oh yeah, always wanted to spend some time in DC and NYC. I think 18 month/2years is about perfect. That's about how much time I spent in Seattle (not including deployment time) and I was able to really settle in and get to know the place.

Astronomer. A nice income and an office is all I need. (It's a misconception that astronomers spend most of their time at observatories. They actually spend most of it in nice comfortable offices).

Comic book editor, in some chalet that is close by the mountains so I can ski in and out. I would snowboard, bike and hike and talk about comic books.

That's a good question. Im still trying to figure it out.

I'd have to say something involving animals. Im just not sure what. At 40 yo i feel sometimes like it's too late to change careers. Especially if it means going back to school again. But I can't imagine continuing my current career for the rest of my life. I'd go nuts.

In an ideal world, I'd love to be a designer for a traditional tailoring house. Sadly, I lack the motivation, the drive, the willingness to be poor while working my way up and if I'm entirely honest with myself, the talent to actually do it well enough.

In the real world, I'm working towards a portfolio career that will be close to my "realistic ideal", if that makes sense. I get tired of routine too easily to enjoy a regular full-time job, even in medicine which has some inherent unpredictability to it.

To be honest I only really have two perfect occupations, maybe three:

1. Vagabond Philosopher. Like Diogenes and Crates, I'd wander the streets
and pay my way into people's homes by philosophising on the
something something of the universe.

2. Adventurer. But that doesn't really count, because I don't think you get
a salary for it.

3. Thespian. But only stage, TV just seems a bit complicated. And playing
dress up has always been a hobby of mine.
