What is your favorite Trek movie?

Star Trek 4 The Voyage Home and also First Contact.

Yep, two of the better ones. I'd also add GENERATIONS, simply because it was a crossover story between the first two casts. And it had the ENTERPRISE-D in it. My favorite of the starships.

My favorite tends to alternate between TWOK and TVH. TUC occasionally sneaks in there from time to time, too.

My top 3 are 1) ST09 (it's what got me really interested in Star Trek), 2) The Search for Spock (has my all-time favorite line from McCoy), and 3) The Final Frontier.

I actually like them all and pretty equally. But my favorite is Star Trek XI. After that I like all of the TOS movies pretty equally and the best depends on my mood. I think Trek III is very underrated and is a very good Star Trek movie.

This isn't a judgment or anything, but it seems like a lot of people think of ST:XI as being their favorite. I agree that it was a great film, but why favorite out of all the ST movies?

^ I think a lot of people are new to Trek starting with the latest film and really enjoyed their first Trek experience.

First Contact. I never liked TOS, so despite the Wrath of Khan being a classic amongst sci-fi films, I don't rate it highly. Next is probably STVI (I know that sounds contradictory to my first statement but it was the first Trek film I saw in the cinema).

Great! That's the way it should be.

The whole idea was to create a new generation of Trek fans . . . .

I completely agree - it is great. I think the movie was a really fun way to inject new life into the franchise both narratively and audiencially (of course it's a word).

 Agreed on the sentiment. I don't personally have as much interest in the JJ-verse (or whatever the heck we're calling it) as I do in the prime-universe (where I have both ongoing novels and my own story ideas to work with). But, I did think it was a fun movie, with a lot of cool ideas, though it was certainly riddled with plot holes. It's hardly the only Trek film with that problem, though.

My favorite is a constant, running tie between TUC and FC. The former represents the TOS crew and setting at their absolute best, and the latter is the best of the TNG movies (though I don't feel it quite outdoes all the TV eps of TNG) and just a really good Trek-style action/revenge flick.

After that, GEN, TVH, and XI all slot in (though I don't know what exact order I'd put them in).

The other six all range from "eh, s'ok" down to :ack:

It wasn't just another Trek film, it was the biggest thing to happen to Star Trek since TMP in 1979. For better or worse, it was an event. An exciting time to be a fan.

And it's my favourite Trek movie, too - even on DVD after the hype's died down. It's the world of Star Trek seen through new eyes. All that was old and overly familiar was fresh and new again.

I very much enjoy all the films, including the unloved STV, Nemesis and TMP. My least favourite is Insurrection.

TWOK, TSFS, and TUC.

I will always love the TOS films the best for nostalgic reasons, but I like all of them to an extent. The reboot was fantastic.
