What is your favorite Trek movie?

heavylids

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
I'm currently engaged in a movie marathon and was curious to see what everyone's favorite is.

Let's discuss!

As far as I'm concerned, it didn't get any better than The Wrath of Khan. That is the movie that got me into being a Trek fan. They never topped it.
I still like all the others, but Khan is the best.

Mine is First Contact, closely followed by The Undiscovered Country and Star Trek.

First Contact features my favorite Trek bunch, the TNG crew, that is, and it just is a very well-made Sci-Fi flick.

TUC
was to me the most rewarding of the TOS films and offered a wonderful farewell to the original characters.

Star Trek
was the most fun of all the movies and watching it in a theater was a very exciting experience. I thought it was an affectionate tribute to the TOS characters. Oh, and the music was fantastic!

Although on some level I think Wrath of Khan is probably the best movie in the series, my favorite is Undiscovered Country.

Heh, wow. Those are my three favorites as well. I guess it would be easy-going for folks like us when deciding what to pop into the old DVD player.

I love "The Undiscovered Country"! And I watched "First Contact" in theater...the first ST movie I watched in theater and loved it. I also like "Star Trek".... I watched that in theater, too, and loved it.

I guess so. They are pretty good movies, it's kind of hard not to pick them as favorites.:D

Wrath of Khan first, followed very closely in joint second place by the Undisovered Country and First Contact. I would need a million dollars to write anything positive about ST:09.

I watched Search for Spock last night. I know that this isn't very popular with Trek fans, but I still think this is a great film. Christopher Lloyd as a Klingon is pretty fucking awesome.

But my favorite Trek movie is First Contact. I remember seeing it in theaters, and I bought the VHS the day it came out and watched it three times in a row without stopping. I love the score, especially the intro. Overall, it was an amazing sci-fi film. Even if you're not a Star Trek fan, you can still enjoy this movie.

Honorable mentions: Wrath of Khan and Undiscovered Country.

Star Trek III. For me, it was the first time we saw the "big seven" of TOS truly come together as a family, risking the end of their careers and possibly imprisonment to disobey Starfleet, steal the Enterprise, and go off to rescue one of their own. A few things that would appear later in TNG were introduced in that movie--the Excelsior-class, the Oberth-class, Spacedock (or "big mushroom" to some of you). The movie also had a few emotional moments, including the original Enterprise going out in a blaze of glory. I think it's one of the more underrated Trek films period.

Runner ups:
1. Star Trek XI
2. Star Trek II
3. Star Trek VI

It seems there have been four people who have picked TUC, FC and 09 as their favorites. I'm pretty tired but I can't seem to conjure up anything that would link these three films together especially well, but whatever it is, it seems to attract people.

And no, it isn't that the movies 'suck', so take your sarcasm elsewhere! Grr!
