What is the closest thing to Trek people can get in the present day?

I feel it's a bit of a logical fallacy to ask a question like this about a fictional TV series, but here goes:

Voyager in particular shows a harmonious crew who infrequently have arguments, but even when they do, they are (mostly) settled in a way that would make any Japanese person proud. Are there any real-life situations where people are able to work that closely together? Even if we look at TNG, taking away the "lone starship" factor with VOY.

You´re essentially talking about team work. Common ground and common objectives are the basics for it. The more different people are the more likely are arguments. Wesley gets important advise by Riker when he once had to lead a team. You speak of Voyager as harmonious crew and problems that are easily solved. It´s nice to see, but not always realistic. Some arguments are not easily put aside.

As to real-life situations: there are Assessment Centers where job applicants have to work together to solve a problem. In the end only one gets the job. Like Wesley´s Academy entry exam.

Mix the U.S. Navy and NASA, throw in a pinch of Silicon Valley.

For the team work, exploring, self improvement, I'd say a creative hobby group or club.

Or how about a low paying retail job that people take for fun like a bookstore or something? Then there's still a heirarchy but less of a focus on money because the pay's low anyway. But if it's a small business you can still be an important team member.

Important factor of Trek is that it always focuses on the bridge crew rather than lower ranking people, so I think it would need to be something where you're making bigger decisions.

Most jobs, sports teams, military units, clubs and other groups of people. It's not like Star Trek made up something new or unique.

Pistols at dawn.

Working for the United Nations is not only possible but realistic, as well. They have many different occupations. Many locations:

In my view, that would be the closest thing to Trek that present-day people can get ...
