What is the best system for gaming PC or Consoles ?

Its purely personal preference, PC offers the highest resolutions and eye candy but consoles offer a great drop in and play instantly.

In the current market, where most major titles are released on both console and PC without appreciable differences, I find that the PC's drawbacks outweigh it's advantages.

I'm no fanboy. I'll still pick up PC exclusives if my computer can run them. But if a game is being released on both PC and console, I usually find the console to be more convenient.

PC is best system of games because all games are play to easily in PC. I am also playing game in PC.

They're both suited to different things. If you want something where you can just stick in a disc and play a game, and like controllers, get a console.

If you have the money to spend on a beast that requires its own powerstation, but can run the latest games at 1000fps at 1080p, and like the mouse/keyboard layout, get a PC.

It comes down to game choice and preference.

Personally I prefer the console only franchises and don't use my computer for gaming, so for me I'd go with a console. But I'm a casual gamer at best, so that's just my preference.

It depends on the game. I think when it comes to 3rd person shooters, consoles do it best, while First Person Shooters are better on the PC.

Why limit oneself to just one? If it's a strategy game I'll get it for pc. Other stuff I get on consoles

Pretty much all games I like work better with mouse/keyboard in my opinion (RTS, TBS, FPS). I also don't tend to play the latest games or want them at the best resolution so I don't need the most expensive hardware.

PC works for me. For others consoles work better*, some play games on both. I don't think you can pick out a "best" system for everyone.

It depends what you want. Consoles are good in that you can get a console and then you're taken care of until it dies or until they stop making games for it. PCs require you keep up with the technology if you want to play the newest games and have them look good, but when you have the specs to max the games out, it looks gorgeous.

It also depends on how you like to play. For me personally, I think that PCs are better for shooters and strategy games while consoles are better for racers. Console strategies feel too clunky for me to use, and I feel like I'm more accurate/ have more control when I play shooters on a PC.

I prefer the PC myself. Although my heavy gaming days are over, for now, back when I was a teen I preferred the SNES, N64, GEN, etc. When I got a job and some extra cash I moved on to the PC and never really considered the consoles. The only current generation console I own is the Wii and I barely touch that.

I only play consoles. I suck with computers and wouldn't know how to upgrade or max out my computer and would be too frustrated. With my x-box I just put the disc in the tray and within seconds I'm playing the game. Simple.

I grew up as a console kid on the Mega Drive, PS1, N64, Dreamcast and PS2 but then spent several years gaming heavily on the PC. However PC gaming is very expensive due to the hardware and console gaming with the 360 was a easier and overall a cheaper choice...

However consoles aren't as plug n play as they used to be, despite the PS3 being an amazing piece of tech, the annoying need to install parts of your game's data on the HDD is blurring the line between console/PC even more though the consoles lack the speed of PC's.

True, although I find that to be an advantage, as back when consoles didn't have any HDDs, you had to rely on specific save points and now with the advent of HDDs in consoles, you can save anywhere. Games also have more customization now as a result. As for PnP though, I'm impressed. I bought a wireless usb keyboard recently, and even though it said nothing about the PS3 being supported, it works flawlessly, just as it would on a PC.

Even though I grew up in the 80's and 90's, I never had a gaming console. My parents saw to it that I didn't get to play video games.

As a result, the first gaming system was a PC I built myself when I was a junior in high school. Fell in love with building gaming rigs. I spent endless hours playing Civilization, X-Com, Master of Orion, Prince of Persia, Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Duke Nukem, Diablo, and then just about every best selling PC FPS/RPG for the next decade.

12 years and 6 gaming rigs later, I am tired of trying to always stay on the cutting edge of PC tech. I can no longer dedicate that much time and resource to my PC. I bought myself a Wii and a PS3 and vowed to never chase gaming PC ever again. Though I never spent anywhere near the time on these gaming console as I did on PC.

Having said that, I still love FPS and nothing beats a mouse and keyboard.

Thing is, for me, I'd buy a PC anyway for work purposes.

So the difference in cost between console gaming and PC gaming is what it costs to get better components for a PC to allow decent gaming as well. I don't think those are that expensive these days compared to consoles.

I've never bought the really cutting edge components either. Mostly mid-price components and I often wait quite a while between upgrades these days. They don't really cost me more than a newish console.

That's pretty much just like me. My PC was getting a bit long in the tooth and I didn't want to upgrade yet again just to be able to play the latest games, so I bought a PS3 recently and I'm not looking back. There are a few things that I'll still use my PC for, but not recent games.

I prefer to play actions games on consoles. If I'm going to spend an evening running, jumping and shooting, I want to do it while slouched in a comfy chair.

I prefer to play strategy games on the PC, because if I'm going to be plot my dominance over all my opponents, I want to do it sitting at a desk while stroking my chin.
