What if there was a novel about a Borg cube doing borg things?

^It's best not to push the envelope, though. It's a matter of consideration to us authors to avoid story ideas. It's not some game where you try to figure out how far you can go.

It's not like star trek/aliens crossovers haven't been on the cards before...

Star Trek: The Next Generation will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2017 by inviting the Borg, Romulans, and some cute little facehuggers to the party for a crossover mini-series. Artist J.K. Woodward posted some concept art, but unfortunately, the project was canceled.

So it is in the realm of possibility of being made one day again...

Of course for incredulous crossovers, I don't think anything beats the X-Men ones:

I read this as a kid, loved it in its terribleness. But I now realise there is a whole subset of comic crossovers of this kind

Would have died, metaphorically speaking lol, to read an Alien/TNG comic/crossover damn.....

@XCV330 , a few members have already responded to some of your posts, but as the mod initially being responded to, I thought I should reply to let you know where my thoughts were with this one.

Wait, you made @publiusr use spoiler tags for a crossover idea he had that doesn't have rat's ass chance of actually being made? How is that fair?

I did acknowledge that I thought the crossover was probably unlikely. (Although, as later posters have shown, there was actually such a crossover in development at one point!) But it was still a story idea, so I felt it best to err on the side of caution. And to be honest, I'm not really sure why putting text behind a spoiler code would be considered "unfair"?

Fair enough but this seemed tongue in cheek, not a real story idea. And frankly isn't this entire thread about a story idea from the OP?

As discussed earlier in the thread, saying that you'd like to see a story featuring the Borg from their perspective is too vague to be a story idea. It's not a "story", and doesn't mention anything specific about what would happen in the story. That's why the thread was allowed to stay open and in this forum.

As for the "tongue in cheek, not a real story idea" part... I don't think the forum moderator should be any kind of arbiter on what's a valid or "real" story idea or not. I have no idea what the authors are thinking about or planning, and so I'm not really in a position to make that kind of judgment. Although I thought it was probably unlikely, it's not like it was entirely outside the realm of possibility. So it is just best if all potential story ideas are treated the same way... ie, not allowed.

Citing a topic you'd like to see isn't really a story idea, not unless it gets more specific about what happens in the story.
Clearly, a Aliens/Borg mashup isn't either, as I have said.

And if @publiusr 's post simply said "I'd like to see a Borg/Alien crossover", you would have been correct... that would have been too vague to be a concern. But the post then went into specific story elements that @publiusr thought would/should happen in that crossover, and that's where it crosses the line.

I hope this helps to explain where I was coming from. If you (or anyone else) has any further concerns about this, please feel free to contact me.

The first rule is that you don't post story ideas.
The second rule is that you DO NOT post story ideas.
And you still don't talk about Fight Club.

Peter David's Vendetta book has the borg in it and it's a great book. It's a great story for Picard and Guinan with them dealing with the Borg and Shelby is in the story too.It takes place before a few years the Tng Movie First Contact and there's no Borg Queen in the book.
