Paramount would have to cough up extra dough to reshoot the line where LeVar Burton says "Constitution class", rather than just looping it.
And that's about it. The two classes would have no differences in capacity to pose a threat to the E-D (i.e. no capacity), and both would convey the message that this is an outdated design from the past. But we'd be one design poorer, and a dangerous precedent might have been set wherein TPTB would start to think that TNG needed no new ship designs whatsoever.

Bingo! But it would have also looked better. I always thought the Constellation-class was an ugly little ship. And I always liked the simple elegance of the Miranda-class, and how it resembled a 23rd century Romulan bird or prey. -- RR
In one of those combustible flying human shields? Hell yes.
I've always thought that the Miranda, along with the Oberth, was one of the ugliest ship designs in Star Trek.
