What if the Enterprise lost her primary hull?

What if a Klingon battle cruiser fires a photon torpedo to the connecting dorsal of the Enterprise between the primary and secondary hulls in the end of the five year mission, the Enterprise saucer section was severed from the secondary hull and was forced to crash land to a nearest class M planet surface?

The Engineering hull didn't have any phasers or torpedo launchers (at least not until ENT "In a Mirror Darkly", which I can't quite believe as technical canon). So once the saucer was gone, it looks like the Klingon ship in your story would have a very good day.

Take away the Klingons and you've got Star Trek Beyond

Answer: Bob Justman writes a scathing memo about the expense of the miniature and optical effects required and the script gets rewritten.

I seem to remember one of Bob Justman's memos concerning a particular writer's elaborate and expensive script ideas that said something to the effect of "Can't be done. No way, no how, no sir. Regards, Bob."

My understanding is that the TOS saucer wouldn't come in for a long sliding "crash" landing, but would deploy landing gear and vertically land on them fairly softly.

In the scenario of the OP, the secondary would (if possible) put a tractor beam on the saucer and tow it out of the area. If there was still power in the saucer they could still fire their torpedoes.

Well, think now. Where'd you see it last? I swear you never keep track of it the way you should. THIS is why we can't have nice things...

Then it's abandon ship. Men and children first!

Starfleet would probably conduct an inquiry.

I don't understand the point of this question.

The saucer's crashed, so you answered your own question there.

If the stardrive section has weapons and a means of establishing control (YMMV), then perhaps it can take out the Klingons.

If the stardrive doesn't have weapons and a means of establishing control, then things probably won't go very well.

If we take into account "In a Mirror Darkly", than the Engineering Hull gets run from Main Engineering, and they attempt to take on the Klingons with the aft weapons at warp speeds...since the Engineering hull doesn't have an impulse deck. A bank or six of phasers and however many tubes of torpedoes they got back there.

FIRST THINGS FIRST THE ENTERPRISE N.C.C.-1701-D WAS THE ONE THAT CRASH BUT THE KLINGONS HAD TOO GET THE SHIELD SETTINGS; SECOND IF THE ENTERPRISE N.C.C.-1701 HAD TOO THAT IF WOULD BEEN SALVAGE FROM THE PLANT LIKE THE ENTERPRISE D WAS SO THAT IT WOULD NOT CONTAMINATE THE PLANET GROWTH OF PREWARP CULTURE FIRSTLY AND SECOND TO SALVAGE PARTS OF THE HULL.

IN THE TOS SCOTTY WOULD BE AT THE ENGINEERING PANEL ON THE BRIDGE AND WOULD SEND COMMANDS TO ENGINEERING AND USE THE PANEL FOR EMERGENCIES TO KNOW WHAT SHIELDS AND POWER LEVELS ARE SO HE KNOW TO GET TO ENGINEERING
