What if the Enterprise-D was destroyed during her 2nd year?

What if the Enterprise-D was destroyed with all hands fighting the Romulans during her second year? Then Dr. Crusher would been heart broken, (she is not on the Enterprise, someone else is on), the Federation would be at war with the Romulans, the Enterprise-E would be commanded by Captain Kathryn Janeway.

Since they all had longer contracts than that, it would never have happened. Plus, the VFX budget for the battle plus new starship stock shots was not there in Season 2.

The main cast would have all survived, and Enterprise-D would have been replaced by an identical Enterprise-E. Kinda like SeaQuest.

Sela, Tom Riker, Shinzon, B4, Lore and Worf from another universe would have joined up with Bev and they'd have sailed off into the sunset, managing at some point to pick up characters who look just like Geordi and Troi.
