That would be quite an interesting idea.

But you know what would be even more interesting? If they encountered a giant Tribble that was floating around in space.

Yeah, but Trekkies would accuse it of ripping off TOS.

Remember TOS 5X13 "Tribble Truffle Shuffle Trouble"?

Ah yes! That is one of my favorite episodes, despite it being panned by the majority of TOS fans. What I didn't understand about it, however, is the fact that at the very end of the episode they just re-used the footage from "The Trouble With Tribbles" where Scotty says the "No Tribble at all" joke at the end of this episode as well, no less! It's one thing to re-use a joke, but to re-use old footage is just plain lazy.
