what if the Enterprise-A had a yellow deflector dish in Star Trek VI?

Re: what if the Enterprise-A had a yellow deflector dish in Star Trek

I'm trying to decide whether to continue reading all the posts in this thread, or go back to staring endlessly at my full virus and spyware scan until it finishes.

See ya!!

Re: what if the Enterprise-A had a yellow deflector dish in Star Trek

The Ullgaxian Limited Liability Corporate, a very powerful yet stupid race of aliens with a sulphur-based metabolism who we've somehow never heard mentioned, would have interpreted the yellow deflector dish as an omen that the Enterprise had been sent by their gods to destroy them for a recent lapse of faith. They would have responded to this threat by immediately destroying the Enterprise and, just to be safe, killing every person in the Federation with the name "James".

So, clearly, it's a good thing the Federation considered this possibility and made the dish blue, instead.

what if the producers decided that the Enterprise-A would have a yellow deflector dish (like the refitted Enterprise during the spacedock sequence in ST:TMP) in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country? Can you imagine the Enterprise-A would have a yellow deflector dish?

What if the Enterprise had a neon green colored deflector dish...in Star Trek VI?

Or how about a purple deflector dish...in Star Trek VI? That's always a good sign!

Hang on, we can really branch out here, why are we excluding...Star Trek V?

In all seriousness (:)) the deflector dish turns color in the first movie when the main engines are shut down; so, we see that when the Enterprise is chilling out in Spacedock, and when she is being pulled along on Vejur's tractor beam. At all other times, the Enterprise deflector dish is Blue. Oh, wait! So...

The Enterprise is hanging out in Spacedock in Star Trek III, so:

What if the Enterprise had a yellow deflector dish...in Star Trek III? :wtf:

NO NO NO!

You're all overlooking the real question:

What if the gold deflector dish had a green Enterprise in Star Trek II?

Re: what if the Enterprise-A had a yellow deflector dish in Star Trek

Well, I'm watching Star Trek III at the moment where the Enterprise is being stolen, and the Excelsior is powering up. The Excelsior's deflector dish is blue on the outside and yellow in the center, indicating power up, possibly for transwarp. The Enterprise's deflector dish at this point is blue. When the Excelsior, moments later, prepares to pursue the Enterprise and has her warp systems fully powered up for transwarp, the deflector dish is blue, so maybe it has something to do with deflectors powering up with the warp drive in preparation for their function, so that anytime power is being channeled to the warp engines, the deflector is always on.
