What if the ALIENS existed in the Federation?

Dusty Ayres

Commodore
FYI, the Aliens are the creatures from the Alien trilogy by 20th Century Fox.

A dimensional rift opens up in space, and a ship loaded with Alien eggs/pods comes through. It drifts for awhile until a Starfleet ship comes in contact with it, and sends an away team aboard-tragically becoming the first victims. The infected crewmembers beam back to the ship, and what happened in the first Alien movie happens on a massive scale once the starship gets to an inhabited system. What would Starfleet, and the UFP, do next?

First you would have to assume that the Aliens would know how to pilot a Federation starship.

I don't think that they would make it to an inhabited world without hatching a few eggs aboard the ship first. Once they hatched on the ship all hell would break loose and either the Aliens would be wiped out or the crew would. If the crew was on the losing end I would imagine the captain would scuttle the ship to prevent them from getting to an inhabited system.

I think they covered this with the Species 8472 arc. Eventually, gosh darn it, they find a way to make peace. ;)

Well, I think phasers might be more effective in killing Aliens on ships because they vaporize the target and not just blow holes in them. They wouldn't have the chance to bleed acid through the hull.

I actually think that Starfleet would have no problems neutralizing the "Ripley aliens." For starters, they will know where they are with starship sensors and tricorders, so they can't sneak up on anybody. If they can't be stunned, Starfleet will have no problems setting phasers to vaporize as they did the parasitic aliens in TNG's "Conspiracy"--and you don't have to worry about getting hit with acid blood as a bonus! People infected with the "face-huggers" could have them surgically removed with transporter technology or simply have the alien DNA rendered inert and removed at the molecular level so that it won't produce a "chest-buster."

That technobabble stuff is useful after all...

I always figured the Klingons would find them first and go down fighting once they realized what was going on, and then their ship would be found adrift or something. Then the real fun would start.

Yeah, since the Aliens are affected by the DNA of their hosts, that would mean they'd have to deal with Klingon-Aliens.

There was a fun bit in the post-finale DS9 novel Mission Gamma: Cathedral where Taranatar, a Jem Hadar "ambassador" of sorts who was assigned to the station by Odo, is battling a "Ripley alien" in the holo-suite. They don't come right out and say it of course, but the description of the creature is dead-on.

The thing in all the Alien movies was that the odds were stacked against our heroes from the beginning - not just because the aliens were menacing, but because supposed fellow humans were actively working to assist the aliens and hinder the heroes.

To reproduce those results, we would have to get Section 31 to sabotage all Starfleet efforts at stopping the beasts. Shipments infested with aliens would be directed at Elba II or the Tantalus colony after the local personnel were disarmed and the head of security lobotomized. Kirk would be diverted away from the assignment, and a deliberately incompetent team under the joint command of Captains Stiles and Harriman would be sent in. And Harriman would backstab Stiles with his own swagger stick after Stiles sabotaged Harriman's phaser and locked him in a turbolift with ten facehuggers.

And I have the creeping suspicion that the heroes would still win...

Federation Phaser rifle with their superior firepower would likely blast the Aliens to shit, should the worst come to the worst there's always the auto destruct sequence, then there's always the ability to send a message to Starfleet telling them to send a ship to make sure the Aliens are wiped out.

Indeed, in the next series, you see a flash-forward to the future and a ALIEN is serving on the Enterprise-F.

Seriously, if they did, they'd invent some reason why it wasn't their fault and why a cup of tea and Picard making a nice speech could solve all of the problems.

This is an interesting idea, xenos in ST, but like ST vs. SW, the in-universe considerations have to be made. IMO, Species 8472 represents what had to be done to upgrade the xenomorph concept from Alien/Aliens into a viable threat in Star Trek, including, inability to get a transporter lock, intelligence and ability to build and pilot ships, telepathic communication, etc.

There was a fanfic about this many many years ago (I'm talking the early-mid 80's). An Alien somehow got on board the Enterprise and started terrorizing people. They quickly discovered the acid blood and Spock devised a plan to lure the Alien into the Enterprise's swimming pool (see the FJ deck plans). The water neutralized the acid blood and they were able to kill it easily without damaging the ship.

Well they had to wrap them up somehow. It couldn't be some big battle because there's no way for VOY to really win against them in a fight. And a battle story would be an arc and UPN wouldn't like that so it had to be a one episode thing too.
